does anyone know where to find plastic modells of the post-war German navy (1/350 or 1/700)? I remember Revell had a 1/300 Bremen-class frigate in their program once, but that’s it…

Modern German Navy in plastic 1:350 or 1:700 scale.
The only ones which I can think of are the ex USN Adams class destroyers sold to the (West) German Navy. They included the Rommel and Luetgens. Look for Dragon Models in 1:700 scale - CF Adams. (One may have been repoped by Revel of Germany as the Rommel).

Resin is about it. I have the HP Bundesmarine Hamburg destroyer in 1/700. I like it. I’ll try to take a picture of it and scan it into my computer.

I believe the Skywave/Pitt Road 1/700 Charles Francis Adams-class destroyer kit has parts and decals for the German Lutjens class. Not exactly German ships - but a beautiful kit. And it could be dressed up with any of several aftermarket parts sets.
I’m pretty sure that kit has been issued in a DML/Dragon box - but I don’t know whether that version offers the German option.
Didn’t the Germans end up with a few of the older Perry class frigates as well?
Just to answer mfsob’s question: no, the German navy did not purchase the old Perry-class frigates - as far as I remember (but maybe I’m wrong here) they were sold to Turkey.
American-build ships in the German navy:
- Fletcher-class destroyers (1958-1980)
- Adams-class destroyers (1968-2004)
seasick’s Hamburg-class was the sole and only German after-war destroyer design - they served from 1960 to 1995.
Revell/Germany still offers the “Rommel” in 1/700 scale plastic. I’ve seen several at my LHS in the last two weeks.
I should always check before I type - Spain and Poland got some of the Perry Class, as well as Australia, and Taiwan bought some and apparently also built some similar to the Perry.
Australian, Spanish, and Taiwanese Perry class frigates were built new for their owners. None of those ships are retreds. Old Perry frigates sold to other countries from the United States are of the “short hull” type. These ships can not operate SH-60 class aircraft.

Notes on USN Perrys:
The Standard missile (SM-1MR) has been removed from service in the USN at the end of 1993. The Standard missile was found to be ineffective against current and maturing anti-ship cruise missile threats. The missile has been withdrawn and the Mk13 launchers have been deactivated in place. The launcher arm has been removed, and the SPG-60 director conponent of the STIR fire control system have been removed. While the Harpoon missiles have been removed SH-60 helecoptors have been modified to fire Penguin anti-ship missiles. Penguins can be stored in magazine positions modified to hold the Mk60 lightweight torpedo. It is still slated for RAM missiles to be fitted to Perrys that are scheduled to stay in service past 2012.
