Good Day! I just put the finishing touches on a Landsknecht from the German renaissance/30 years war period. This figure is available from Pilipili and was a great kit to build and paint. If your wondering, I masked off the armour, and sprayed it with Alcad II metalizer steel. Artist’s oils were used for shadows and high-lights, while humbrol enamels were used for the base colours. I hope you enjoy the posted pics, and please feel free to comment or criticize, as I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Super job!! I love Pilipili’s kits-very animated. Although I would not recommend wearing this outfit to a biker bar.
Excellent job! The armor is fantastic.
I think a Landsknecht could hold his own in a biker bar. [;)]
BG-he would have to! LOL
But what a great paint job, eh? If you’re into figures check out Pilipili-just for grins.
Well I certainly wouldn’t wear clothes that bright into any bar!
It IS an excellent paint job. I look at model cars, armor or aircraft and am amazed, and then look at figures like this and just go WOW. I’m expecting this guy to breathe!
Two words come to my mind…Fantastic job!!
Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. I’m pretty certain he could hold his own in any bar, as the Landsknecht had a pretty fierce reputation. Say Bgrigg, seeing as you’re a fellow Western Canadian and are in the neighborhood, you might be interested in the Edmonton IPMS show and contest coming up in October, where I’ll have this fellow displayed “in the flesh”. We’d love to see some entries from B.C.[:)]
Excellent painting. Looks very realistic. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Hey, I was born in Edmonton. CFB Greisbach to be precise.
You would need a bunch of Landsknecht to drag me back to Edmonton in October [:D]
“You would need a bunch of Landsknecht to drag me back to Edmonton in October”
Ha! I hear you on that. The only thing we can offer you to sweeten the deal is that the Oilers season opener is Oct. 5. Now you can’t beat that can you? A great model show, NHL hockey and a chance to tour the old neighborhood (which you probably wouldn’t recognize due to extensive redevelopment.)
Excellent piece of work! I really like your highlights throughout and your skin tones. Nice how you tied the base into the figure with complimentary colors, red flowers and the green grass.
Thanks Al, the ground work colour scheme was intentionally designed to tie the figure and the base together. That’s a little trick I retained from my Art school days. I’m just glad I could find a use for my wife’s leftover potpurri![:D]
