If it’s not too late to join…a couple weeks ago I picked up the same kit that Eagle90 received and I was planning on starting it this week.
I wandered into the GB area looking to see if I could find a build that would match up with it and almost fell outta my chair when I found a dedicated GB!
Count me in with a Tamiya 1:48 if you got room for one more
Cheers,
We ALWAYS have room for more builds! You’re in!
Bish: I’m pretty sure my English is going to get “corrupted”, but I don’t mind it! (LOL)
John: There’s nothin’ wrong with the way ya guys talk!
That’s good to hear, for a moment I thought no one understood me! That doesn’t however explain my children who always look at me like they don’t understand me![:O] And we won’t talk about the dog!
On another note, Going to my LHS tonight I hope my 335 exhausts are in! [:D]
John
Splendid … I’ll be starting my 1:48 Tamiya kit in a day or two (got a local IPMS meeting tonight). This GB will also give me incentive to get my photo booth back together (this is gonna be my first kit after moving to a new house) … looking forward to seeing everyone’s builds.
Cheers,
i have an ipms meeting tonight too. may start mine this weekend along with a DANA for SPA GB
Ok friends… I got a little build time started last night, Not much to show at this time. I’m going to start off a bit differently then usual, Like most I usually begin with the pit. But this time since its a night hunter and I’m having to fabricate alot of the items, were starting at the radar operators position above and behind the pilot. This is going to be the Theme of the build so I need to get that done first, I dug out all of the spare tubs I have in the spare part box and found one I could work with, Alot of alteration will be required. There was a spare canopy from an old P*51 Mustang kit I will use for the “Dome” of the radar operator.
Looking really nice so far, mate! Can’t wait to see some more!
Well my exhausts came in last night. [t$t] they are the quick boost set for the Tamiya 335. So now i need to get those into my revell Arrow. Anyone got any suggestions?[bnghead]
John
I have the same set… what kind of problems are you having?
Doug
Doug,
No real problems yet, but just not sure how much of the original exhaust to remove and how far out they extend outside the fuselage. I haven’t had time to look at any real pictures yet.
John
Oh, ok, I gotcha… well on the "blank"side (the port side) where the dumps are molded in, I just carefully cut them out and opened the slot, then super glued the new ones in until they just barely protruded through the slot. On the engine side I just trimmed and fit to the engine having decided to open the access door.
Ok, not much time at the bench this week, Here are the latest pictures I have, most all the weapons radar operators pit is scratch built and still has some refining to be done before I call it complete , but here it is so far.
Arrow update,
I started cutting the openings for my resin exhausts, They look so much better than the molded in ones, can’t wait until they are in and I can glue the fuselage together.
John
Rigidrider - your cockpit looks great.
My update: my resin wheel set from true details came in on Tuesday, including the new exhausts that should be it for AM stuff. hopefully over the next few days I can get back to this one, Need to finish up my 190 for the group build. And then start another Buhahahahah!!!
John
Thanks… yeah that is the one thing about these kits…sadly lacking inhigh detail. I ordered a bit of pe and resin myself, but all inall these Monogram/Revelle kits are good solid kits for the bucks. I have a bit more done on mine, I just finished pilots pit and have been cramming sand in every where I can under, and around the cockpit and around the blind side of the engine so as to keep from having a “tail dragger”. I like the little “prop” they include im kit to place under the tail incase you didnt get enough weight to keep the nose down.
Looking forward to more of your 190 progress too John!
Take care…
Doug
Ya I agree, the mono/revell kits are good, they are after all what I grew up building. But it is nice to add just a little extra detail, at least for my own satisfaction. The Tamiya 335 was way out of $range for me to want to spend on a D0-335.
John
Doug, nice work on the cockpit.
I finally got some time to have a look at the forums and I love what I see! Your 335 looks really nice so far, Doug! I can’t wait for your next update, mate!
