German Armor in Nuenun (operation market garden)

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me some of the german armor that was in Nuenun?,if you have seen the band of brothers movie you will know what i mean i think there was a tiger but thats all i know of,
cheers

Google Panzer-Brigade 107. 33 Panthers and 12 StuG IVs.

There’s a Concord book: “German Armored units in Arnhem”

Nuenen is near Eindhoven, and is not covered in the Concord book as that only deals with Arnhem and surrounding areas like Oosterbeek and Elst.

I know in the band of brothers movie there was a half trak witch got knocked out at the start of the attack does any one know what kind it was?. there was a tiger coverd in straw witch knocked out 2 british tanks and was there a jagapanther? (mine my spelling), am i right?
cheers
Daniel

Are we trying to match history to Hollywood? A lesson in futility at best…

I am Basing the dio i am doing more on the band of brothers book then the movie.the Panzer-Brigade 107 did not just have 33 Panthers and 12 StuG IVs.

The halftrack might have been sd kfz 251/1, will have to view the episode again. There was at least one Tiger in the episode, and a StuG (not sure which one). One of the British tanks was a Cromwell, I think the others were Shermans.

Panzer-Brigade 107 on 15 September with 2117 men had the following assets:

• Brigade Stab with 16 medium SPWs
• Panzer Abteilung 2107 with 36 Panthers and 11 Jagdpanzer IVs and 2 Bergepanthers and 4 Möbelwagens and 2 SdKfz 251/8s
• Panzergrenadier Battalion 2107 with 116 medium SPWs, 8 12cm towed mortars and 1 28cm/32cm rocket launcher. The SPWs were:
--------41 SdKfz. 251/1
--------4 SdKfz. 251/2
--------14 SdKfz. 251/3
--------2 SdKfz. 251/8
--------10 SdKfz. 251/9
--------3 SdKfz. 251/11
--------42 SdKfz. 251/21

• Panzer-Pionier-Battalion with 23 medium SPWs and 6 flamethrowers. The SPWs were:
--------2 SdKfz. 251/1
--------1 SdKfz. 251/3
--------14 SdKfz. 251/7
--------6 SdKfz. 251/16

cheers deltapi thats what i was after,
cheers Daniel

wow — now thats good documentation[8D][:D][8D]-- treadwell

In the movie the German armour in the episode included a Tiger 1, a Jagdpanther, and a Stug III (or at least they were what was supposed to be represented). The first blown up halftrack appeared to be a 251, possibly 251/1, and there was a 251/22 ‘PAKWagen’ (the 251 with the PAK 40 7.5 cm gun mounted on it). As was stated the allied tanks were Shermans and Cromwells.

i thought there was a Chuchill in the BOB

willjanuary:

I recently finished watching the entire Band of brothers series (18th time) unfortunately no Churchill was used in the film. Although it would have been a great piece of armour to see moving around on screen.

Actually, Does anyone know if there is an operational Churchill out there? Bovington maybe?

Cheers;

Gregory
