Had a extra set of MN Trooper decals laying around and…
That is awesome. I have been looking through my stash to do something like this too! I love the idea of making a non-typical car into a trooper car. I was thinking of doing either a Shakopee or Eden Prairie police car though (both cities in minnesota).
BTW are you a fellow Minnesotian?
The model is way too cool!
Problem is that would be every troopers nightmare. [:)]
Looks good, but I’m curious about the model itself.Who made a model of a Geo Storm?
I tend to really like kits that are off the beaten path.
Looks good!
Yes, I am from East Bethel. The is a promo.
What exactly is a “promo”? Do you actually build this model or is it pre-built?
A promo is a preassembled that dealerships give away to promote their cars.
Hey, just down the road. I’m in tiny Spring Lake Park, sandwiched between Blaine and Fridley.
I know the area well. There used to be a great hobby shop on University and 81st , University hobbies. You in any local clubs? We should exchange numbers. Send me a email via the forum here.
I am in the shakopee area. As for clubs I know of the RPM Guys.
They meet in Edina and there is the MCCM guys

And I attend the MCM that meets in Eden Prairie.
I used to me a member of MCCM. Wish I had the $ for the dues. Wife and I have been out of work since January.
University Hobbies was awesome. I grew up in the area as well (I’ve only recently returned, having lived in Crystal for many years) and when they made it illegal to sell superglue and spray paint to minors, the owner used to sell to my friends and I so long as nobody else was in the store at the time. He knew by the quantity of models and miniatures we were buying (and had been buying for several years prior) that we were clearly not huffing the stuff.
I was sad to see it close. Doubly so now that I live in the area again, as it would be much more convenient than driving down to Hub. (A trip I still generally make twice weekly, despite the distance.)
Isn’t it amazing how errant behavior by a few effects us all? In Clark County ALL spraypaint has to be kept behind LOCKED doors. Seems we had a “tagger” problem a while back, with folks getting mighty angry finding their walls and such painted (naturally).
The restrictions certainly contributed to the cessation of the problem, but I for one resent the inconvenience. I know that’s a little narrow minded but…
Home Depot tried that in a few stores around here. I simply went elsewhere- while it’s their right to make me ask for assistance to buy spray paint, it’s also my right to shop elsewhere if I don’t like it. Others must have felt the same way, as the cages over the shelves were removed after a few months. I suspect when their sales dropped, they changed their minds about the policy.
We have no choice. Clark County has an ordnance mandating the locked doors. There is one old boy who runs a LHS who refuses though, guess where I shop?
At least you can get it.As far as I know, spraypaint is illegal to sell in Chicago.
[raises hand and waves] oooo ooooo pick me pick me. I know the answer!!!
In my home town in Illinois, they dont keep anything locked up, but they arent allowed to sell spray paint or glue to minors. With the exception of Walmart, all the little hardware stores would sell to me. They almost all knew my dad and knew that I built models. So it worked out.
Hey you Golden Gophers…what’s up with Al Frankin!?!
I’d tell you, but I recall that one of the forum rules is no politics. [;)]
Of course, it’s totally not politics at all to point out that he hasn’t been funny since the end of the Al Franken Decade.
