Ok, I wont tell anyone at all that you dragged me into this build and that if I didn’t join you would write me down. But it’s quite alright. I needed something to do next. I have about 342 models sitting around that just need airbrushing. Hey, 342! Isnt that how many crates of tea were thrown overboard at the Boston Tea Party?
Jack… you have 15 kits sitting around… not even actually. more like 9
and lets not get too off topic here, but its MARK ME DOWN not WRITE ME DOWN
It is.
All I did was build the Monogram SR-71 using regular Testors plastic cement and enamels, paint a few details for the cockpit and the landing gear, apply the decals, and then sealed it with a nice glossy Testors lacquer clear coat, to give it that “wet look” they usually had when warming up for take-off.
Except for the lacquer clear-coat, I literally got all my supplies as well as the kit from my local Wal-Mart as a re-introduction to my building plastic scale models.
You just gotta be careful with the red striping decals. Take your time with them, keep the model’s surface wet and carefully adjust them with a soft bristle brush.
The drone and cart are even easier.

I’m saying I’m almost done with a bunch of stuff, not that I have too much already.
As a GB entry for this one, I am thinking of a Monogram P-61 Black Widow.

No prob, I do have the P-61, B-25, B-17 and B-29 kits to choose from. I think that I’ll go with the B-25 and a back up of the P-61!!!
RoG kits are generally better quality kits, however I have run across a couple that are not so good at all.

You can count me in. I’ve already started my Revellgram 1/48 F-106 and will count that toward this GB, if that’s OK. Scribing this bird now and it’s alot harder to scribe than my R-M F/A-18C Bug was but it’s still going well. I’ve got most of the upper fusalage scribed. I may have the Dart done by late Feb or early March. Just going to take my sweet time with it.
Air Master
I think the second one looks alot better.
I’m almost done with my F-106. It’s an okay kit, but once I got to the nose cone I almost threw up all over the model.
I just test fit the nose cone to mine and it was fine. Just needs a little sanding where it mates to the fusalage. What problem did you have with your Six’s nose cone?
Air Master
I looked at his nosecone and the mating edges were all wavy. i dunno if that’s because of uneven pressure on the sanding materials, or just plastic warping, but otherwise, it looked fine!
yeah the rescribing is a bit of a necessity because you lose a ton of raised lines while puttying and sanding
FROM NOW ON, ALL DISCUSSIONS IN THE GB THREAD!!!
I’ll jump in with a 1/48 F-84F Thunderstreak. ANG markings for Peoria, IL, 182 FBG/169 FBS
