Just been browsing the Gaso.line web site (think they are French) and it seems there might be a lot of 48th scale offerings not normally visible to the market.
I’d list what I have bookmarked, if it wasn’t such a long list, but, one thing that seems likely, and that is, if my first purchase goes well, I might be saying good bye to my entire 35th scale range.
Now I understand not everyone likes 48th scale. And those kits on the website are not cheap (not expensive either though). But I think I can confirm that there IS a long list of 48th scale subjects. Granted, I have been reading comments over at Track 48 and those boys sure are a demanding bunch
There is no ‘hate’ here for 35th scale, merely no interest in fussing over my old kits that in most cases predate the 90s and too much of the 80s. That, and not all of us thing 20 Panzer IV kits from Dragon is thrilling
Thinking of testing the Gaso.line waters with their Brummbar conversion to the Tamiya IV. If it goes well, it will not be relevant if I was able to rescue my older Tamiya 35th scale Brummbar at all. But I was amused to find some pretty neat rare subjects in addition to the cliche. Judging by the prices, I can likely do a kit per month. Judging by my bookmarks, I will need a couple of years to run out And half of my list is complete kit offerings too.
Yes,Gaso does have some interesting kits and conversions,but they are so expensive,I like 1/48 myself,but their a little rich for my blood,but if it’s what you like,I say go for it [Y] Have you checked out www.track48.com ? they carry a lot of 1/48 and are nice people.
Yep I have been finding a wealth of useful tid bits via their site. Very handy. Bit of a fussy bunch maybe, but it’s always nice to see people blow the whistle on a kit if it has a few too many silly gaffes.
I have ill feelings towards resin, but it has been quite a few years since I was in the market for any. Hoping the resin market has improved like injection has.
Price is likely the least of my worries. If I have 100 bucks to spend in a month, chances are I can still only afford one kit Of course the closer to 50 it gets the better eh I like that a lot of them use kits I have already experienced.
I’ve built up one GasoLine kit and reviewed a few others. They are generally well made and like most kits, can be polished off with some additional detailing.
One of the things I like about 1/48 is that at some point, one must stop detailing! I find in 1/35 that my “corrections” and “super detailing” list seems endless. Because of the smaller scale in 1/48, I get satisfied much earlier and can find a way to finish!
