Galveston Airshow.. the good stuff

It seemed that everyone enjoyed the photos of the Bearcat Blue Angel, so just a taste of the striking aircraft that attended the Galveston airshow last weekend. Enjoy.[:)]

Thanks for the pics.

Nice shots of the big boys’ toys. Thanks for posting them.

is it just me or does the nose look out of place on the b-17. for a G model the nose doesn’t belong

That is why we model, we can’t afford the real items! Thanks for the photos.
Cheers,
Eric

Some beautiful birds. Thanks for the pics.

Still bugs the devil out of me that a person can own a priceless F6F, but can’t get the local IPMS chapter (let alone a paid historian) to provide him with a couple of simple color chips. It costs just the same to paint it the corrects colors as it does these ridiculous schemes some of these historical treasures of “restored” in.
I understand why they must be glossy and covered in polyurethane-type coatings. It’s because they ARE priceless and can’t bear the corrosion that gets through if you use really accurate, period matte paint with a simple anti-corrosive primer (like old fashioned ZC).
However, the point is the great photos and thanks for sharing them with us. I’ve had a grumble with that same Hellcat for a long time when I first began visiting the museum when I still lived down there. And for those aircraft that are based in Galveston, literally yards from the ocean, special anti-corrosive measures must be taken (seawater corrosion is one reason the CAF moved from the tropical Rio Grande Valley to the middle of the Texas Plains). But those colors…yech!
