Here is my first completed model post in several months. It is the 1/48 Tamiya Fw190A-3 kit, done as an A-4 flown by Walter Nowotny of JG54. I hope to do several Luftwaffe warbirds from JG, including a few 109’s and maybe even a 262. The kit was straight forward, but took forever due to some new responsibilities at work. For the winter camo, I am happy with the ourcome. I did the basic splinter 74/75/76 scheme and then “dusted” over with a very dilluted and dry flat white, intentionally keeping it uneven. I really like the green and yellows over the white base. Thanks for letting me share.
great job. A nice change from the usual camo schemes for FW190s. How did you do the panel lines and how did you adjust the yellow decal over the panel lines? or did you paint the yellow? Looks great!
Very nice build. The Grunherz is one of my favorite Luftwaffe Squadrons & their exploits on the Eastern Front were extraordinary. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Great looking 190…I like it very much.

Great looking 190. I love the look of the winter camo, and your panel lines are awsome looking. Great finish!!!
I really like it… I never tire of seeing 190’s… especially well built ones like this.
It’s a vey nice build, but i don’t see the spliter camo, just white.
You did a fine job on the panel lines. Nice work.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the kind words, as it keeps all of us modellers going! Regarding the panel lines, I can truly say I’ve been improving on highligting them because of comments and tips from all of you good people here on this forum. For this build, fellow forum member Carsanab tipped me off to his technique: usuing an exacto knife to delicately split the decal in the groove, then applying another coat of Micro-Sol, then future, then weathering. I liked his idea so much, I went back and applied it to models I’ve already built and it truly makes a big difference. Another product I have become to believe in is the Polysclae clear flat applied with an airbrush. They ought to bottle and sell that stuff!
Mucker,
Great finish! It looks really good! Just wanted to point out that if its an A-4, you need the radio antenna on the fin tip. The A-3 had the teardrop like yours, but they went to the vertical antenna on the A-4.
Cobrahistorian…good point. I think I overlooked that one in my excitement to finish the plane! I’ll have to sand off the knub on the canopy. It;s a good thing I haven’t run an aerial yet!
Mucker,
I hear ya man! I’ve got almost 30 190s built and 4 in various stages of construction. I love the bird, too bad it wasn’t on our side! Really beautiful build though!
Nice work on the 190 Mucker
