I know this really sounds like a joke but…
What’s the difference between an Fw-190 F2 and the Fw-190 A8 variant?
Thanks for the help!

The FW-190 F2 was a ground support aircraft based on the FW-190 A5. Main differences was the installation of a fuselage bomb rack capable of carrying a single 1102 lb bomb or an adaptor to carry four 110 lb bombs, plus optional wing racks capable of carrying a single 551 lb bomb on each wing. Armarment was restricted to two fuselage mounted 7.9 mm Mg’s and two 20 mm MG 151 cannon in the wing roots. It also introduced the blown canopy to the FW 190 series. (The F8 version introduced the 13 mm fuselage mounted mg’s like the A7 & A8 fighters).
The actual corresponding fighter bomber to the FW-190 A8 fighter was the FW-190 G8 Jabo-Rei (long range fighter/bomber). It had all the upgrades introduced by the A8, the bomb carrying equipment of the F series and the armarment was restricted to the 13 mm fuselage mg’s.
Hope I didn’t muddy the waters too mch.
Qmiester,
Wow! Thanks for the info! I like to think I know a good amount of details about American fighters (WW2) but I am a blank slate when it comes to German WW2 fighters. I’m trying to expand into Axis fighters and I saw an FW-190 where they said “Can be built as the F2 or the A8” but I was clueless as to what they meant by that.
Thanks again for the info! I greatly appreciate it.
