John: Your 190s look great! I love the mottlig effect! I agree with Eric: You can’t tell that one of them is a snap-together kit.
Joe: Your Jumo looks absolutely gorgeous! Fantastic work, mate!

Very nice. How long dose it take for you to complete those types of builds ?
O a couple on months I guess, 3-4 hours a week.
Doug thank you for that. Sounds like solid advise tamyia is the other brand that sells here.
Isould get to put some paint on today.
If you are referring to me it takes about 8 months or so. This one seems to be going a little quicker though. Its probably a combo of the fact that I continue to build Luftwaffe stuff and I’m getting a little faster.
Just make sure you know how the panels are supposed to open and where the hinges are. I see lots of modelers getting this wrong on Doras and Ta152s.
Joe (Rix), sorry to hear about the P-47 disaster. Did you ever determine what is in the Mig wash that caused that to happen? Have had some interest in their products, checked their website and can’t find anything about what its made of. I find it confusing that the Alclad clear was fine with the turnpenoid/oil wash, but reacted to the Mig wash. This stuff gets mind boggling.
Thanks for the link, a good one. DId you notice the bit on the first page where he mentions that some turpenoid brands might cause trouble?
John, I agree, you really made that snap together kit shine! (not literally, of course
)
Your 190 looks awesome. Didn’t you have some mottling problems along the way or am I confused again? If so, heck of a re-do. Looks like you have it down pat. I am convinced I laid mine down too heavy, and everybody here is to kind to have come out and told me. Yours look great, on both.
Yikes and thanks for the warning re the CA accelerator.
Joe (Mustang), I am in awe of your nose section. Beautiful work, kind sir…
I’m going to order “that book” today. That may help some!!![:D]
Ohh sweet for sure. Hope it ships fast. I got some pics too if you need.

Greg,
Yes I did, if you look real close at the model you can see some over sized splatter that to me was out of scale. Of course you may have to have it right in front of you. So the next 190 I’m hoping I’ll get it right. I’m definitely going to practice more this time.
John
FWIW, I noticed the same (out of scale splatter) on mine too, after I’d already gloss coated it!
So much for paying attention. ![]()

That’s still correctable. You still have a dull coat to apply. [:D]

everyone in the house knows when it happens too. they think there is a pirate in the basement.[prte] ARG!!!
weathering hides a multitude of sins.[whstl]
Joe (Rix): Yeah, that’s a pity with your Jug. Thanks for the warning to never use Mig washes on top of Alclad!
Greg: I wasn’t telling you that your 190 looks good just because of kindness. I said it because it really looks great! I think Joe’s problem with the wash resulted in the Mig wash being enamel based, as well as Alclad paints. The wash (basically a lot of solvent colored with paint) just dissolved the clear coat and the underlying paint…
Just got back from Barnes and Noble after ordering Volume 1 of Jerry Crandall’s Fw190 Dora and got it for 69 bucks.(75 after tax). Everybody who we know of i.e. Squadron/ Sprue Bros. is out of stock on both volumes of this thing. The only other people I saw who had it were asking stooooopid prices like 175 and over 200 bucks for it. Anyhow B&N has it back in stock for 69 dollars. It’s supposed to be a decent reference for all you Dora fans out there.
Joe, I’m sorry I did not catch you in time as I found this on ebay late last night. Both volumes for $99.95 and free shipping.
And outstanding work on the nose section and engine. gorgeous work.
Well…that’s a wrap!!! Thanks anyway Joe! Just when you think you’ve found a good deal …POOF! Another one comes along that totally wipes the plate clean after you’ve already committed to the original “good deal”. Its the thought that counts. Thanks again buddy!
holy cow! I had just checked ebay 2 days ago and nothing?? Well, we’ll see what they end up going for…
