Look at all those 190’s!!! You are the man Clemens!! I’ll bet the execs at Eduard would look upon this post with Cheshire cat grins and drool!!!
I dropped a line to Eduard via their website. Didn’t really complain per se but asked about the differences in the color of the styrene. They seemed to pick up on that immediately and committed to sending me a new kit before I had even mentioned the molding issues. I think this may have been during the transition from the olive colored styrene to the grey as I believe the grey is what they use on everything now. Not sure how or why this would have affected the moldings in this way, but something went off the rails for sure.
Alright my brothers, friends, and fellow builders… I have my Dora mounted now, and I call this one “Captured”
Any one who has seen some of my “other then 190 builds” will likely recognize my figures, sorry, I wanted to get her posted and completed and didn’t have any figures to pose her with. I have some ordered now, to replace the other Dio with.
White 12 survived the war having been captured by the advancing American Army in April of 1945. There is no record of or known pilot to place her with. She was scraped about 6 mo later, if the accounts I read were accurate. Thank you as always for your encouragement and kind words during the build. The last picture is what she was said to look like in her better days and what I used to guide my paint scheme.
Eduard my azz! Kurt Tank would surely proud of the modern day Focke Wulf assembly line that we have right here on this build!!! Good Grief!!! I would NEVER in a million years attempt this. Hats off to you Clemens. You are “THE MAN”.
Rigidrider: What a build! Your aircraft is certainly deserving of many praises! I like the camo, the detail and the quality of workmanship you always bring to the table with your builds. Thank you again kind sir for being a great addition to this build.
Everybody: That last sentence I tacked onto Rigidriders response here goes for every active participant in this build. It is all of you that make a group build like this possible. I only started it. You guys literally run this thing. Thanks to all of the participants who have built, are building and those that will take part in this group build. You all are the bomb!!
Since the GB has been extended I think I will throw my hat back in the ring with the Hobby Boss 1/48 Ta-152 C1/R14. I have it pulled out of the box and have begun to assemble the cockpit. will try to get some pics up sometime this week.
Doug, fantastic work! Man that thing just came alive with that stunning paint job. I really like your rlm 81 brown interpretation. I gotta say this is your best 190 yet for the build!
Doug, What can I say other than your D-9 is simply stellar. You have produced what I can only describe as a jaw dropping, eye popping piece of AWESOME!
I agree with all the others, Doug! The awesomeness-level of your D-9 is way too high too describe!!!
Yes, that’s a LOT of 190s on my bench, but I ain’t tryin’ to build a Staffel, just as many 190s I can fit on my bench without blocking my working area!
I feel similar to you in that I had planned to visit the Flying Heritage Collection one week later! I guess timing is everything after all. The place is awesome, even if nothing is flying. I made a separate post in the aircraft forum here. Here’s a preview:
Hey Mike, Thank You for the pics/preview. That definitely does the trick in getting me amped for a visit. My wife will still be there next summer so I will be blowing off a Xmas trip and instead visit during the “Flying” season. I mean, c’mon, there’s priorities involved here.[:D]
