future problem

every time i use the future for clear coatin it darkens up the kolor is that normal for that to happen?? anyone know ???

yes, that is normal…it will darken the base color up a bit as it changes the reflectivity of the base paint.

Keep in mind though alot of dullcoats will have the exact opposite effect on the colors. In my experience it will all even out just about right in the end depending on which dullcoat you use and how many coats of dullcaot you use.

phew thats a relief!! is a satin or matt coat good enough and how many coats should i use ?

It depends on the plane you are building and if you are building the plane as if it was just issued to the squadron or a war weary vet. If you are doing a Luftwaffe subject they used semigloss paints on their aircraft for some reason. If the plane was new a semigloss finish would be accurate. It would fade to flat very fast once the plane was in service. What plane are you modeling?

f-14 jolly roger final cruise [:D]

f-14 where warhorses, so i would use at least 4 coats to make it look the part. Read some of the articles published by darren roberts you can find them in finescale. good hunting

i’ll look in to that and thanx again! [:D]

I shouldn’t worry too much about the paint getting a tiny tad darker… A veteran modeler once told me that a model should be painted slightly darker due to the light catching a smaller than real life object. Can’t remember when or where but your question just brought that back to me.

I think its the other way around - the further you get away from an object, the lighter it gets. There’s been a lot of articles about “scale colour” and to my mind its the same logic that applies to doing landscape painting.

Oops…

I stand corrected [;)]. Like i said, couldn’t remember the details of it… My apologies.
