I justed started decaling my Tamiya Sherman. I clear coated the kit with Walthers Solvaset, my problem is the solvaset is damaging the Future clear coat, the future is turing white. Is there a better decal softener, that will not damage the Future? Or do I need a different clear coat?
I believe if you put another coat of future over the top of the decal it will clear up. I had this happen once with micro-sol, but not solvaset. Future will also fog sometimes if you use CA near it, and/or alcohol. It usually always goes away after a second coat of future.
I think all you need to do is allow the Future to dry a little longer. This problem has never happened to me until this past weekend. I tried to do a rush job by clear-coating the model and then trying to decal 2 hours later. A little area turned white from the Solvaset but another coat of Future cleared it up. Patience my friend. Patience.
Agree with the above. Some decal solvents can cause Future to blush, especially if you don’t allow at least 24 hours curing time. The white blush will disappear if a fresh coat of Future is applied.

I have used Polly-S Decal Softener, and it tends to look like it is turning the clear coat a milky color, but if you just let it dry for a while it tends to clear up. I tried wipeing it off one time while it was wet and we disapointed when the paint came of. Once that stuff goes on, just leave it alone for a while.
Agree with all above. Must wait a MINIMUM of 24 hours, prefereable several days. I use Champ, which is a VERY strong setting solution, but works on almost any decal first time. It will definitely turn the future white. Even with aging the Future, you may notice that the Future has lost its gloss where the setting solution has hit the Future. I have decalled a lot of models with Future, and fortunately, recoating with Future after the setting solution as dried fixes it right up. I personally use Future as my “setting solution” on all decals, applying a coat right on top of my just applied decal. It pulls the decal right down to the Future undersurface. Only in rare instances do I use setting solution to snuggle a problem decal down, then, only put it right on the decal after pin pricking the decal .
