Hi everybody, i am new to scale modeling. I’ve read lot of post about futur floor care use for clear coating but event with lot of research i still didn’t found answer to my question. Is it possible to sand and polish futur after cure to get nice smooth and glossy finish for my car model?
i’m using tamiya ts paint and looking for the best inexpenssive alternative for clear coating which accept polishing and sanding.
Thanks for the help
I can polish enamel to a mirror finish but not sure about polishing Future. You can test your theory on a scrap plastic part.
Lots of info here

No you cannot. However you can add a thinned final coat, or put on a layer over it of a wax that you can polish.
The old Swanny site mentions mixing Simple Green with Future for a super glossy wet look. I need to experiment with that recipe.
I just tried AK Gauzy Shine Enhancer over Alclad polished Aluminum and it looks fantastic with no loss of the Alclad effect on the F80 I’m in the process of applying decals.

I’ve polished the later iteration of Future, the Pledge Floor Care, without issue. I polish with Formula 1 Scratch Out first and then wax. I’ve never sanded it though. Comes out nice. It usually takes two or three rubbings with the F1 and then a couple with the wax, so you want to make sure you have enough clear on the model to do that.
I will say I’m more likely to use clear lacquer or Tamiya acrylic.
