Fujimi 1/48 - F-14A Tomcat "Black Bunny"

Hi!

I want to know if the Fujimi 1/48 F-14A Tomcat “Black Bunny” its a good kit or not. I found one on Amazon.com for $32. I want to know if is worthy or not. There is another Black Bunny for Revell. Is bether the Revell or the Fujimi?

Thanks!!

I have the Revell Germany F-14A Black Bunny and it actually looks better than Revells earlier F-14A kits of course it could be a reboxed Fujimi but I also have Fujimi’s F-14D as well.

Revell of Germany has been releasing Hasegawa kits for quite some time, but I don’t think that they’ve released the 48th Hasegawa F-14, I could be wrong though because I haven’t seen the latest Revell offering. But they certainly haven’t released the Fujimi kit. In all probability it’s the old Monogram kit, maybe with some extras depending on what variant the jet is supposed to be. However, if it’s the Hasegawa then I’d definitely jump on it.

Whatever the case with the Revell kit, I’d stay away from the Fujimi kit unless you don’t care too much about accuracy. It is just a horrible looking F-14 model when finished.

I used to be a Tomcat fanatic (and still am, although much more casual these days!) and I started building the Fujimi kit back when the only other choices in 48th were the godawful Revell and decent Monogram kits. I didn’t have much in the way of trouble with assembly, the fit wasn’t too bad. But the looks of the thing… once it was together and I could tell what it was going to look like I got disgusted and set it aside, never to be worked on again. Pulled out one of the Monogram kits and built that. There are some ugly fit problems on the Monogram kit, but it looked like an F-14 when finished.

In the end, it’s your call. As I said, in my experience, the Fujimi kit wasn’t a bad build, it was just a bad replica.

Fade to Black…
