Frustration

I’m nearing the end of building my 30-year-old Italerei Opel Blitz S for the Liberation Western Europe GB and together with the crap Alan PzKfw II Ausf C which I never even completed, I am very frustrated!

I got the kit very cheap from a friend, who had stored it in his garage for many years, and there were some melting and warpage problems – the former I corrected (or covered over!) fairly easily, but the warping is about driving me nuts!

The thing looks as if the radiator cover is a good four scale inches too narrow for the other parts of the hood.

I plan to cover the whole front end with a generous helping of foliage camouflage!

And I’ve actually considered blowing the hell out of it, victim of an airstrike…

So my last two kits have been exercises in frustration. Think my DML Panther will go together a little more smoothly??

Which one? I built the older Night-fighting G. It went together real well, so yes, I’d say it should. All of my Dragon kits have gone together rather easily. Which version do you have? A D, or G? I’ve heard that all the Panthers seem to go together easily.

It’s the Ausf. A, late model, “Normandy.” I have the Friul tracks (which have gone together easily, though not exactly as I expected) and I’ve borrowed materials from my bud Roosterpolo to do some putty-Zim, which he (among others) makes look easy. Relatively!

I’m almost enjoying the challenges this POS Opel Blitz has created: kinda gets the creative juices flowing. But I AM looking forward to a more uneventful build, and sooner rather than later!

Ouch, sorry to hear that brumbles.

i have that opel blitz truck.i didnt think it was that bad.even opened up the hood and one door.kinda like it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great kit, especiallly for its vintage (I think the copyright date on the instructions say 1972). All it’s problems seem to have been caused by the warping, which in turn was caused by being stored in a Florida garage for ten or more years.

I built it before, circa 1975, and I don’t remember having any trouble then!

Yeah, too bad about the warpage problems, as I think it is quite a nice kit afterall. I built one as well, and with some careful painting, it can look really nice.

Thanks for the suport, guys.

The Opel is about done: just applied the decals. Once I’ve found something to use for the foliage, I’ll take some shots and hopefully you WON’T see what I’ve been talking about!
