Well, the vast majority, if not all, youth today play videogames on a regular basis. Now, my idea is that since nearly every videogame has some sort of unique vehicle in it, license and make kits of those vehicles. For example, in Battlefield 2142, you can drive the T-39 Bogatyr battlewalker. What if a company put out a kit of it at a low price and sold through Wal-Mart with an aim at the 10-15 age group? Why stop there? I’m sure plenty of older people will want to own a model for display of their favorite online “mount.”
Well, don’t let them start making World of Warcraft models and figures. THAT would be a multimillion dollar industry! My wife would probably buy stock and make me build them all![yuck]

I used to work in a model shop and remember well the days when Atari etc came out. We used to sell the computer games too and even allowed customers to try these out. I noticed then that kids stopped buying models and started buying games. Now these kids
are now buying games for their kids (altho I suspect that its like the railway/race track. there for the kids after there
ve played with it). Ive said for years that the kit makers should join em if you can
t beat em and make kits of game heroes and hardware like they do for succesful sci fi stuff. But games will probably be sold like film models. By the time youve got research costs, production costs, and then the license fee for useing the image or whatever, the idea of a cheap model vanishes. But the really annoying thing about all these
fad` models is that none of them seem to fit together. Mismoulded parts bad joints and blobby detail along with a large purchase price probably drive more people away from the hobby when there potential 1st build is such a pain to finish. Recently I built both the large scale Enterprises from Polar Lights for store display and as new kits they would have been slammed by the modelling press, but its not like a Spitfire or an F14. That kit is the only option your gonna get![#offtopic]
Sorry just my [2c] worth of rant

I know whatcha mean guy, i was in my LHS just yesterday, jawjacking with the owner and this guy comes in with his kid, and dad was looking for some supplys and the kid could do nothing but whine because dad went to the HS instead of going to Gamespot 1st, and i overheard dad trying talk the kid into getting a model instead of a game, well the kid went ballistic in the store. The dad ended up buying a 1/32 Tamiya Zero, and told the kid he didn’t have the ducket’s for a game, and told the kid to spend his own money on a game when and if he made it to Gamespot. I don’t think the kid had a very nice day after that[(-D]
I’m blessed with an interest in both models and gaming [:D]
I was playing the ol NES before I got my hands on a model, but now Im playing the xbox 360 and still enjoy building.
… Rainbow Six Vegas on XBox 360 for the win! We just got that last week, fun game! My daughter and I have a blast with that.
But I only play while waiting for paint on my models to dry… heh heh heh [:-^]
yea, rainbow six: vegas is a great game.
I also do both. Sometimes it is hard chosing between modeling or playing SOCOM 3. I think it is important to be well rounded in our free time. To much of anything is not good! I have gotten my two nephews into modeling. Of course not as much as me but at least they do show an intrest in it. I also got a good freind hooked hard on them now HAHAHAHA! He never saw it coming. One day he is admiring a A-36 Apache and before he knew it I had him building a 1/24 Airfix Me 109E. Now he is as diehard as me. Was that wrong of me do give him the building bug? LOL!

Call of Duty 3 on ps2…Love it!
Nothing wrong with gaming, I just think kids should experience other forms of entertainment before they become “glued to a screen” I see a lot of kids these days are not taught the virtue of patience and its a shame as it is a quality that sadly lacking these days.

I play Day of Defeat on a more or less regular basis, but the only thing i get any REAL enjoyment from is and always will be model’s.
Hi All
As I`ve now calmed down and had the tablets, and were onto games…
Does anyone know if the game “Gunship 2000” produced by Microprose is available for the PC on Xp format. I loved that game and played for hours until I spilt a cup of coffee into my trusty old Amiga. Ah happy days

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is one of the best. however I would never build a Sam fisher figure. Call of Duty 2 is great as well. and for the all out shooter nothing beats Halo. generally I only play when my freinds are over. when you are having a tough time with a model nothing beats blasting someone away online.
My daughter and I have been trying to tackle a particularly tough mission on Rainbow Six Vegas. We’re doing the one where you have to work your way into the casino, pick off the terrorists, work your way through the offices, casino floor and then through the hotel and prevent them from killing the hostages. We tried it 3 times last night, only to have a hostage killed right after we tossed our flash bangs into the room and killed all the terrorists except for one… mission failed. The only thing that sucks about that is you have to start the mission all over… all the way from the beginning and man, let me tell you. It is a long, grueling (yet fun) mission. We’re going to give it another try later today. Fun stuff! [8D]
I play the I-l2/Pacific Fighters series of flight simulators, and have bought more than a couple of kits because of planes I have liked from the simulator

I am a huge fan of the CoD series, but just can’t get the hang of the gamepad versus the keyboard mouse combo of the PC!
I taught my sons to be patient by making them wait until I was finished playing… [}:)]
