First time I’ve ever used Friul Tracks. Have just completed assembly of some Friul tracks for this Tamiya Wespe I’m working on. Had some question about the technique of weathering them with Blacken It.
How long should I let the tracks soak in the Blacken It solution?
Rinse off good in water?
Will oil-based washes work ok directly over the Blacken It weathered tracks, or do I need to add a clearcoat?
Last question on Friul Tracks. When I pick up model the tracks hang down from the roadwheels about 3/8th of an inch due to some slack in tracks and weight of tracks and gravity, of course. Would I be better off glueing the tracks down on the bottom-side of the roadwheels so they won’t sag when the model is picked up? Or leave them alone?
first off, let it sit for about 2 minutes and then give it a good rinse. then let them air-dry. No clear/dull etc. coats needed what so ever. And finally, you dont need to glue them.
Most of the on line stores have them. I know I just got some from Hometown Hobbies. Your LHS may carry the Blacken It - one near me does, but I doubt they would carry the Friuls, as most of the stores I’ve seen don’t. They’re a bit expensive, so they probably don’t want to stock them, but if you ask them they might be able to order them for you.
