Several times I have googled free ship plans, and found quite a few. Downloaded one from a new site today.

Then, I got to wondering, if there are free ship plans(scale drawings), then are there drawings available for cars and planes?

I found many sites with lots of free auto plans, mostly racing cars, which is my main car scratchbuilding interest.

Then I did a search on plans and scale drawings for airplanes. I expected even more than for ships and cars. I was disappointed- very few sites other than plans for RC models (which might or might not be true scale). One of the few sites I did find had a great scale (dimensioned) drawing of the Vostok launch vehicle, which I did download.

Anyway, you scratchbuilders, do a google search for free (genre) scale drawings. Then another substituting plans for scale drawings.

Spotty…a lot of simple line profiles and plan views…but occasionally you’ll find a real gem. (Requires registration to get larger-format free ones; really high-resolution ones are for a nominal sum.)

Well, this won’t qualify for “free,” but relatively low cost and extremely high accuracy, as far as I can tell.
