Found a $120 Tamiya Spray Booth

Been searching all around for an inexpensive spray booth (cough Testors $500 cough)

The Tamiya booth was never sold in the US, its not even listed on the TamiyaUSA website. However, HLJ has it available (albeit with $72 shipping to the states). But this doesn’t seem like a bad price.

Has anyone here used this model of spray booth?

You may want to check these out. The 1520H is just $219 with free shipping. I have dealt with this company before and are quite satisfied. I have just ordered the 1530 for myself.

The artograph definitely looks good. I’m currently leaning towards a Paasche, as my local modeling shop has one and there would be no waiting.

Most places I’ve checked today that carry the 1520 are backordered until the end of the month.

I was also curious on any input as to how good the Tamiya booth is – as their models and paints are top-notch. (Not that I would be patient enough to wait for a shipment from Japan

Here is my subjective opinion on Tamiya spray booth:

Blower suction is really good, yet it’s quiet.
When I clean my airbrush I can spray a cup of lacquer thinner toward the spray booth and it’ll suck all the fume out of the room completely.
Anyway, I’m quite happy with it’s performance.

It’s all made out of plastic though if you’re curious, but the lacquer thinner doesn’t seem to cause damage on its surface.

And one last note of caution: The blower require Japan voltage of 100V!
I used it with 110V and the blower died after 30 min. of use, so I had to bring it back to the shop where I purchased it for repair. :frowning:

Hope this help.
