What color paint should I use to paint formation lights?
It is such an “off” color there is really no good out of the bottle match. I prefer to go with after market decals. There are a few sets for different aircraft out there in the main scales.
Goonddman,
What formation lights are we talking about? If you mean the “tape lights” they are a very pale green, click or cut and past the below link for the color.

If you mean the wing tip lights they are red on the left wing and green on the right wing, the ones on the fuselage are usually red, the only exception I can think of is for KA-6 and S-3 tankers, they were green so the pilots can find the tankers in the dark.
BTW, the tape lights varied in color, newer ones were a brighter pale green, they faded the older they got but lite up same no matter how old there were so if you ever light a model, all the formation lights would be the same color, provided they worked.
Reddog
When the lights are off, the color ranges from flat yellow to a buff color. When they are on, they will be a florescent green.
