for all you Tiger nuts

Hi all, I have just got the tiger late production from DML ( 3 in 1)[:)]-boy what a kit, I am disappointed that despite all the P.E parts and extra details in the kit, there is virtually no interior worth mentioning.[xx(]
In all fairness to DML, I suppose there is a limit to what can be provided in a kit and still make it cost effective.

However, I have in my possession the Academy early production Tiger I with the full interior .
now this might be a stupid question…but do you guys think that the interior from the early version academy could fit into DML’s late version tiger, or do you reckon that I should leave the Academy kit and build it with its own interior.
I am not a bolt counter but I really think that this great kit will only be half built without the interior.

Thanks for the input

regards

Timbo

Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
I don’t know if the Academy interior will drop right into the Dragon Tiger as is, but I’m sure with some modifications it would fit.

I’m getting ready to do the exact same thing myself…the hull dimensions are very close, a couple of millimeters here and there, so it should fit without any major reworking.

Now, what shall I do with this M4A1 early I’ve got sitting here?

Jeff

you know who would want that Sherman
J Hulk or the Sherm[:D]

Timbo and Jeff - maybe I’m the only one who see’s this but in the end your both gonna end up with your academy kits missing the interior. You’ll be right back where you started. Granted the DML kit is better but still. [?][?][?]

Can the interior sprues only from academy be ordered separately?

Oo, oo, I know, I know! [:-^][swg]

Hey I-beam,

Yea, I know…but I wanted a late Tiger with interior, and the Academy was far cheaper than getting a resin interior set. At any rate, I’m building the 1/35 kit to familiarize myself with the interior, as I’m gearing up to scratch one in 1/16 scale for the Tamiya kit, which is also going to be converted into a late Tiger I. By building the interior of the Academy kit, and installing it into a Dragon kit, I’ll be figuring out how to do the same thing as I convert the Tamiya early Tiger into a late one, while I’m scaling up the Academy interior…

I hope that makes sense, because now even I’m confused.

J-Hulk, it says here that this M4A1 is going to Omaha? Oman? Ontario? Oh wait…does that say Osaka??

Jeff

I Like Hulks first answer where theres a will …

I also have both kits - looked at them for the interior for my Sturmtiger - The academy is ok but In the end I’m scratchbuilding the interior (with some help from Royal and Aber:) ). But then the project actually is about the interior and not the exterior, so if yours is mostly for the exterior - go for the academy bits - or wait for CMK to release their new interior, drivers, and engine compartment sets in Dec

Thanks guy’s , I 'll follow up and find out if the separate sprues can be ordered from Academy. Hey maybe I’ll be lucky and find someone who has the academy kit but doesn’t want the interior- yeah I wish.
J-Hulk is right where there is a will there’s … a file , plastic card, filler and a way [:D]
I would love to get an aftermarket interior but it would end up costing more than the kit.

Hi Timbo,

you could always mould and cast (in resin) the major parts, and scratch build some of the smaller assembleis. That way you could use the interior for both vechiles.

ps. I know someone that could help you out there [;)]

Jurgs…

thanks Jurgs, goods Idea we will have to make a plan for a modelling day again. it will be a good trial.

Timbo

I put my Academy interior into my DML’s Initial production Tiger. Some parts fit with no problems others had to be doctor some. The Verlinden 1987 Tiger interior fits great, so i have a combination of the academy and verlinden interior.

Yes?

(Yup, in fact, the nuts in the image above are Tiger Nuts.)

[:P]

hahaha, i am in awe that actually wasn’t really off-topic larry.
