Fokker DR1 HELP WANTED

Been building / researching armor for some yrs,& I want to try something
really different… Could anyone recommend best current references
on the DR1, both of the plane & its history? Also feedback on the
Hasegawa 1/8 kit , incl. how to cover it??Or any sites that may help??
Many Thanks,
Roowalker

Those 1/8 Hasegawa kits are not what I would try at first, Roowalker… I’d suggest you get a bit of experience building smaller scale WWI aircraft first.

There are several decent books on the Dr.1; There are also several good websites with decent ‘coverage’. Check out, in the Group Build Forum, the Mad Fokker Day; you’ll find there links to several websites and reviews of books.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m certainly not an expert on the subject, but I just ran “Fokker Dr1” in my Copernic, and these are in my opinion the most interesting links on this little plane.
I understand that you are (will be) building the Hasegawa 1/8 kit, and you want to cover it.
Personally I think that by covering it you will lose a lot of this kit’s charmes, but that is only my opinion.
For covering I would advice you to use the techniques that R/C-builders use ; you can either use the dope-and-tissue method, or you can use a film that needs to be applied with an iron (I don’t know however if the kit’s structure will allow the pressure and the heat when applying).
In the last case however I know that there exist a film that is specially made for WW1 aircrafts and that has the texture of silk (or whatever they used on those aircrafts)

Anyway, I hope this was of some help for you, and I would certainly like to see pictures of this beauty.

Have fun.

Many Thanks for the help, guys. A little research on the Hasegawa#
kind of gave me a reality check re. skills& budget… 1:48 looks a
bunch more sensible for now… I built several of the Revell 1:28
DR1s many years ago, but it looks like 1:48 has done a major jump
since I last built something with wings!!
