I happened across a Moebius Flying sub and was surprised by the size of the 1/32 scale kit as I had once built the AURORA kit during the early 1970s.
.
I do recall hearing that Monogram had re-issued the old AURORA kit after buying the molds but was out of the hobby and never saw the re-issue.
.
I must admit, I hesitate to buy and build the 1/32 scale kit even though it is the only version currently available with a plastic interior like the old AURORA kit.
I did buy the smaller (1/128 scale?) kit but would like to see the old AURORA kit re-issued…or a 1/72 scale version.
.
Would anyone else prefer the original, smaller scale re-issue or are fellow Flying Sub fans satisfied with the larger 1/32 scale kit and simply clear some extra space on their shelves?
If I find one ,no matter the size , I 'm getting it and building it . I like that kit . P.S. The one in the "Submarine, Sea-View " Kit is really teensy .
The 1/128th scale Flying Sub is a bit small, but might eventually fit well into a diorama flying past the snapping jaws of a same scale model of carsanab
Do Moebius Flying Sub builders also have at least one , 1/32 scale aircraft to pose next to the Moebius kit in order to emphasize how large the actual sub would be?
That would be interesting to do, but there’s also an aftermarket set of pilot and passengers for the flying sub. That would probably help with scale. Or better, get the landing gear kit, set it on the tarmac and add a recent 1/32 scale aircraft tug to pull it into the hanger.
I have all three, the really bit Seaview, the 1/32 scale flying sub and the 1/128 scale flying sub kit. Haven’t started any of them yet, but the kits are awesome.
I’d like to own the big Seaview and become a BIG SEAVIEW GROUPIE but don’t have the space …did settle for the 1/350 Seaview; MUCH nicer than the old AURORA kit I used to own.
.
Aftermarket figures for the sub would be nice !
I’ve wondered if the old Monogram 1/32 figures from their Afrika Korps German armored car would be suitable as ground crew in a diorama of that 1/32 Flying sub on some uncharted desert isle…alongside figures of Ginger and Mary Ann…[:P][whstl]
I seem to recall the Invaders UFO , Flying Sub and Bleepity Bleep [;)] Tracy Space Coupe shared at least the seated figures despite being various box scales.
I will make you feel bad . I have three of the original Flying Subs .Trouble is one crashed into a seamount .( on Purpose .) The other two are untouched in de box . My SeaView is built of four sections and is a monster when taped together . Now if they would release the original ship from the movie "Fantastic Voyage " , instead if the cartoon version , which looks nothing like the film version , I would be happy .
