Floaters

Just slapped the chassis on my Tamiya M8 Greyhound and noticed that the front left wheel and both rear wheels are floating! [:(!] All are less than 1mm and not apparent unless you get down level with the surface the model is sitting on. Do I let 'em float or do ya’ll have some suggestions about how to “ground” them?

Boil some water, pour it into a COLD flat pan, wear gloves and sit your model in it for a minute or two, and push the high wheels down with a butter knife or like implement. Check alignment and reapeat.

[(-D] You mean that sucker is sitting on the right front wheel. WoW! You better keep that.

Another suggestion. [:O] Make yourself a simple groundwork base and display it on that. The uneven wheels will look even better just as they would in a real life situation.

I agree about using ground work on a diorama base. It should look pretty cool. Kinda a fortunate mishap, as some guys try to get the wheels uneven like that. Use some plaster or spackle for your groundwork. A little foliage and viola a paerfect dio.

Best Regards,

Mark

Yes! Actually, I was considering taking it and joining up with the circus sideshow! [:o)]

But seriously…you know it’s a 6-wheeler, right? [(-D]

Thanks all for the good pointers. I’ll probably be forced to do the dio thing because the interior is already weathered with acrylics and powders. If I had forseen this issue I could have sealed the interior, but alas, my foresight lacks 20-20.

Thanks again to all! Oh yeah, and also to anyone else who wants to chime-in.

[:P] Yeah, but I thought I’d have some [:o)] fun with it.
