Flight Decks

Hi all;
I have 1 each of the Eduard IJN and USN carrier decks but, have no idea what color to paint them. They come in black plastic. I plan to use them for displaying all my aircraft(hopefully) whan I get them finished. Any ideas or pics?
Thanks’
Steve

What scale are the flight decks in? I need a IJN flight deck in 1/32 scale. Can you tell me were to buy them. Aout the color. All flight decks were made out of wood. The tie downs or the little circles on the IJN flight decks were metal or aluminum color. On USN carriers the tie downs looked like strips so you paint them metal color also.
If you have any other questions e-mail me at alexdenisenko@hotmail.com
Good Luck.[:D]

USN flight decks were stained blue after the war broke out. Pre-war they were stained a maroon color.

Thanks T-34 and paulnchamp;
Mine are 1:48. Got them from Model-expo(www.modelexpo.com). Don’t know if they have 1:32 though.

The official color for aircraft carrier decks during WWII was 250N Blue Flight Deck stain. It replaced the pre-war red-mahogany stain color. The actual stain colors slightly differed and changed from time to time, carrier to carrier as the war progressed. See the following article to get a good overview. Model Master (Testors) offers all the colors disclosed in the article.

Awesome resource. Thanks Quagmyre! This is something I have been pondering for awhile, too.
