CAG,
Where’s the pics of the Sea Fury? Was looking at the front page and out of all the gabbing that’s gone on, only 4 models have been finished? Guess I better finish something huh?

Thanks Buddy, will keep an eye out for that one!!!
Aaron, now that looks proper!!! Well Done mate!!! Stunning build!!!
Darren, They are all good choices to me! I would personally love to see an FG.1 Phantom grace these pages! Always loved the Dark Sea Grey with the red diamond on the tail. A very pretty scheme for a phantom, and still has the look of ‘don’t mess with me’!
Thanks Buddy, will keep an eye out for that kit!!!

Darren, all three choices are well deserved for this fine GB!!! I personally would love to see the Phantom grace these pages!!! If it’s the scheme I’m thinking of!!! would it be done in the grey with the red diamond on the tail???
Now I checked and the first one didn’t go through!!! Being it’s 1am anything could happen lol! Night all!![|)]
CAG, my vote would be for the avenger but any one of those builds would be cool.
Brian, that wildcat is looking good.
Hi Tango,
I think the Phantom would be good, I have a soft spot for the RN Phantoms.
I’ll ask the GB what I should build, here are the choices.
Martlet
Wildcat

Educate me, Tony. What’s the difference?
Phantom stationed down south after the war.
Thanks for the feedback on my build idea’s lads. Its looking good for the Avenger![tup]
Here as promised is the latest update on the Seafury, with the undercarridge re-done, she has a much better stance.
The airscrew decals are very difficult to get into place…I’m still soaking them in Micro-sol! [:D]
Mmmm mmm, that Sea Fury is might purty!!!
Brian
Thanks Brian![tup]
I have added a third soak of micro-sol to that airscrew and its still not settling down…[V]
I will be glad when this one is finished![:D]
Last resort- use vinegar from your supply for chips!
Darren, too bad about those spinner decals. I hope you can get them to settle down. If not not you can always send the spinner to Frank to paint the markings on. I hear he does great spinners but you might have to wait awhile as he is a bit of a perfectionist. [;)] On the plus side I love the maple leaf markings (being Canadian and all [8-])
Darren that is coming along quite well!!! I think th edecals will settle down after time…HOPEFULLY!!! Really looking good!!! I have bought a kit for the upcoming switch back to FAA but still like the challenge of doing the Sea Fury as the mig killer. Ok I can’t stand it, I’ll give!! The kit I have bought for the GB is the Airfix 1/72 Westland Navy Lynx Mk 8! the decals are typical Airfix…BAD!!! Will definately be looking for AM decals!!!
Hi Bondoman,
I think the only difference between a RN Martlet and a Wildcat, is the date it was operating. They originally called them Martlets, then aligned with the American name Wildcat. I’m sure there is somebody here that could give a lot more detail to this.
I was asking for a vote on whether I build the same aircraft, so which ever way it went, I get to build the same thing, ha ha.
Either way, I started building 1/72 F4Fs/Wildcats/Martlets (you know what I mean) back in the 80s before Hasegawa released their kit, and before Sword or Hobby Boss had even been heard of. I had the intention of doing every camouflage/marking combination that I could. I reckon I could get to 20 easily, but to date I’ve completed five, as I just do them as I feel like it. It averages out to about one every four years !
So far I have:
Revell F4F-4 (USN)
Academy Martlet III (this kit definitely has some lineage to the Revell kit, desert scheme)
Hasegawa FM-1 (Atlantic scheme)
Airfix FM-2 (Midnight Blue)
Hasegawa F4F-4 (Operation Torch markings)
Cheers
Tony
That Sea Fury is coming along beautifully Darren! The new LG stance really improves the look. [tup] Although, the spinner decals look a tad on the thick side. Have you ever tried Mr. Mark Softer from Gunze? A pretty strong decal solvent, but can really snuggle down some difficult decals.
As Dave says, I’d be happy to paint them on- though it may take me a few tries! [:-^]
Darren,
If you can get some try Solvaset. A tank building buddy of mine swears by it. It’ll suck the decals into zimmerit according to him. I’ve it used on some unruly racecar decals and it worked where Microsol/set didn’t.
Nahh, Microsol that’s baptist beer. Gotta go for the full strength stuff. Take a paper cup down to the local chip shop, steal a dram of Ole’ English and dunk her in. It’ll work, really!
Mmmmm…Nice! I’ve built one during the original FAAGB, the decals are typical Airfix, but if you give them some TLC, they will be fine…honest! I’ll look forward to seeing you buiold that one.[tup]
I’m amazed at how many other methods there are…I think I’ll visit the local chippy![:D]
Buddy,
I’d love to see you build the Martlett III in that desert sheme-very nice![;)]
