By all means! There seems to be many reasons to be jolly this night! LtCmr- here’s the keys, let’s get this shin-dig started! [#toast]
WOOOHOOOOOO!!! The weekend!!! Working the 2 12’s but what the hey!!! The ONLY thing I can say about the ‘Coke’ is I hope the last bit to go on is going to be the antennae wires!!! Other than that…[tup][tup][tup]WELL DONE!!!
Darren SAME kudos go out to you with your builds!!! Hadn’t thought about the blacksheep in late war scheme!!! thank you for that build!!! Have decals for Aaron’s build, Korea, A-4M, and Harrier for Blacksheep all in 1/72, but no late war scheme! Want to find late korea panthers(did not see combat), F11 Tiger… well I just want to build a Blacksheep vignette lol!
To all!!![#toast]
Richie,
Keep a weather eye out for Hasegawa #00906. It’s a dual kit combo of the F9F-8 Cougar and the F-11F-1 that was re-released a couple of months ago. No VMA-214 markings though. They’re older kits with raised panel lines, but I think they’re the only game in town in 1/72. Just got to find me a F9F Panther and an AgCat and my Grumman cat collection will be complete. Looks like I’ll have to scratch the AgCat as I can’t find a kit.[#toast] When are you gonna post pics of Coke?
[#oops] I had all the antenna stuff laid out. Even replaced the second aerial behind the canopy. Guy sent me some elastic thread for the wires and I just spaced it Thanks Ritchue way to look out! All is fixed? Any other suggestions!
Go ahead and guess Orange Crush Frank! I dare ya!
Edit Sean the little knobs and antenna insulators are Testers clear parts cement. Or Window Maker cenment. Works great and safer than CA. I also use it to tack PE in place so It will stay in place before using any CA. Really nice stuff.
Aaron- Wow, what a difference! The missing antenna really adds that extra something, and turns cool into WOWZA!!! [bow] I like, what a beautiful job. [^]
Hmmm… Wouldn’t be a 1/32 Zero, would it? [%-)]
Just poppin’ in te let ye merry band of scoundrels know I have not been on me keester. Got the main paint spryed on the ole Wildcat, but need to do some touch up (mental note, fight enthusiasm and let paint dry thoroughly before masking ). I’ll get her touched up, and get some current progress pics tomorrow or early in the week!
Brian
P.S. On another note…heading to the LHS with my buddy tomorrow…gonna pick me up a Sea Harrier for the switch to come!
[#ditto] Well said Frank , I couldnt agree more [^]
Yeah, well ye bast’d ye miss’d muster-up cuz me’n Nam had to haul you ta’ yer bunk, ye’ drunk ( hey that’s an alliterative). It’s a Rum thing and as yer the new guy, and got the chip’d mug we’ll give ye’ a break, but starkies: we need piccies and soon or you’ll be on the back end o’ my detail, ye scurvey dog. Slop the pigs at 2 bells and report for duty.
CAG this man may be reliable, but he can’t hold his Rum and model simmiltannurasly, lak ah kan…
XO whotsiz wit the unmentionables wot had littl airplanes on ‘em hangin’ on the latch te yer cabin?
LtCmr Nam returns from shore duty tomorrow and you’ll be bound over to him. Mind what he says about saltpeter and geese. You’ll be holdin’ the cup.
LtCmr Bondo, USN and boatswain of the Foc’sle
Hi Brian! [#welcome][#welcome][#welcome]
My shipmates inform me that you have recently joined our merry crew![tup] I look forward to seeing your Wildcat! And I must say I am very impressed with your choice of the SeaHarrier for the upcoming FAA GB! Well done that man!
CHEERS![oX)][#toast]
Aaron,
I take my hat off to you old chum-anyone who can make that kit look that good deserves praise indeed. You just raised the bar for us around here. [^]
Thats the Dog’s Bollocks mate, well done.[;)]
[(-D][(-D][(-D]
Orange Crush?
I recon you’re building a F-105!! [:-,]
Update:
well, I had quite a rewarding all-day session in the worshop yesterday and had time to chill out and go through the stash to see what I could build for the FAAGB…there’s quite a lot to chose from! Some of you may not know this, but I have a thing for FAA aircraft…[:-^]
Well, the front runners are:
1/48 AM Avenger in the markings of a bird that was actually stationed at the NAS next to my village. I even have a photo of her! This bird is dark gloss blue all over, I would build it on a display base with a photo showing the aircraft as she was during the war at the local airfield.
A 1/48 dio of two FAA Seafires on a flight deck-one in standard camo with wings folded-the other in the midnight blue scheme that I did last year on a 1/32 kit. ( see p.1 gallery.) I would also have a deck gang present, so this would be a big project…might not have time until my current dio project is completed.
A 1/48 Hasegwa FG.1 Phantom being launched off the old HMS Ark Royal! I have a mate who used to work on Ark Royals fight deck and he’s happy to lend me old video footage of flight ops fro references.
So? What do you chaps think?
I also defeated the evil that is hobbycrafts 1/48 Seafury![:D] I eventually managed to correct the position of the landing gear-its not accurate-but its better than what it was![%-)] Also the paint job has been repaired and it whole airframe has been glossed, ready for the decals to go on. Hopefully, it will look have decent when I’m done.[;)]
Right, thats me for now-the sun is shining-so I intend to make the best of it!
[oX)][#toast]
Darren those kits sound like an excellent warm up! If you get all those done you should be stretched and ready for the main event! [(-D] Seriously each one sounds like a spectacular project! Any of what you described would be a real treat! With your little special touches and scratch built display bases I can only imagine the facinating plans you have in store for each of them. It will be exciting to see anty one of those develope into a reality!
Thanks again for your compliments! You are very kind. I hope to do as well in my future FAA subjects. I have a few models myself to play with.
Glad to hear you gained the upper hand on that Sea Fury! I knew you would!
Thanks for the Welcome CAG! The Wildcat won’t be quite up to the quality some of the experts here are producing, but for my second airplane I hope she comes out decent enough. I decided to go with the Sea Harrier cuz it was time to do something WITHOUT a prop hanging on the front [:D]
Brian
P.S. Having me a healthy helpin o’ the galleys coffee (a.k.a. thick mud!) No more Rum fer me lest I be walking the gang plank with the ole swab bucket on me head! [oX)]
XO whotsiz wit the unmentionables wot had littl airplanes on ‘em hangin’ on the latch te yer cabin?
[:I] Oops! Left my laundry outside me cabin again, didn’t I?
[#welcome] aboard Brian! You shall fit in here nicely. [^]
CAG- Hmmmmm… I cannot decide between the Avenger and the Phantom. I think a coin toss may be in order…
Yes, I know what you mean. The Avenger is personally important to me as its so close to home-I mean I’ve actually met some of the lads who were there. I am also chomping at the bit to do the others as good friends have made donations to my Seafire and Phantom dio’s.
Well, the obvious conclusion is to build all three! If only I had the time…I’ll be interested to hear other thoughts on which is the more popular choice.[;)]
In the meantime, the sun has set on England and I am about to sit down to a hearty meal with my son after a hard days lot of fun. I wish I could be five again!
Never mind! Grubs up![dinner]
See you later Chaps![oX)][#toast]
Enjoy those Mid-Rats CAG!
Well, back from the LHS, and lookie lookie what followed me home:
Now the only question is…is it May yet!? [:D]
Also, as promised, some current state pics of the Wildcat (pre touch up painting, so you will see some blemishes that I have to hit again with the AB)
Brian
Orange Crush?
I recon you’re building a F-105!! [:-,]
A Thunderchief? Sounds like you have been in Bondo’s special rations again… [:-,][oX)]
If you are asking me for a personal opinion of your future list I must say I fancy the order you have presented them in. You have graced these pages with a Sea Fire and F-4 so the Avenger seems to be a natural choice to start with. Adding in the personal factor you mentioned gives it the logical lead to me.
All things being equal in the complexity and effort of the projects would make that my natural first choice.
Of course I am a WWII model fan so I may be effected by that human emotion. Shameful…
Then again I have always liked green girls!
Maybe I should practice my airbrushing interior green on Dee! [:P] That’s my idea of a special project!
Live free or die! Is that on the liscense plate of your Wildcat? That Harrier is a fun kit! Will be good to see you tackle it! The Wildcat is one of my FAVs!
CAG,
You can never go wrong with a round motored bird!
EDIT: Every time I go to my LHS I find myself drawn to the Hase Hellcat and Corsair in FAA colors. Must resist tempation, fortunately I’m at work 35 miles away so it’s fairly easy right now.
Brian,
Nice work on the Cat! Look forward to seeing her finished!
Aaron,
Nice work on the Corsair! As to making Dee green, didn’t you do that the last time you cooked dinner?[xx(][:-,]
