Fleet Air Arm Group Build (Part 1)

Don’t be daft Frank, it would’nt cost you anything![tup] If you want 'em just pm me your address.[;)]

Darren,

I have had a look at the Lynx kit and I like it! It looks much better than I expected, and I am quite tempted to start playing with right away[:P] Its not big on detail, but it looks the part.

Still, I have to get my F-14 off the bench first…[:D][oX)]

Darren-

Thanks a bunch, I owe you one! PM inbound. [:D]

You’re [#welcome]

Cool, thanks again! I pulled the kit out last night to look at the wingtips, should be an easy conversion. I also bought my Ultracast seat with belts today, so I am ready when the build starts. [8D]

Darren (Darson)-sign me up. Probably won’t get started on anything for a couple of months (or longer!). I’m thinking a Hellcat…will advise.

Thanks

Bob, no worries mate but it’s actually Darren’s (Tango1’s) build, I just happened to start this thread sort of my mistake.

Cheers

Hi darren

I have an Airfix 1/48 Seafire 47 I’d like to contribute - the timeframe would suit me just right as well. I’m going to do it with the Aires resin c-pit but can’t make my mind up about the wingfolds yet!

Alan (aka Pruz)

[#welcome] Bob and Alan,

its good to have you both on board![tup] Jump in whenever you like! I will add your names to our roster.[oX)]

“Now here this, now hear this…”

Our crew complement is now 19. Well done everyone.

[party][oX)][oX)][:D][8D][oX)][#toast][#toast][#toast][#toast]

Extra rations of Rum will be issued to the ships company.

That is all. [oX)]

Well I picked up the squadron / signal Fleet Air Arm 1939-45 book, and have received my Gannett, Wyvern and Swordfish, so is it April yet? [:)]

WOOHOO! [party] Any more rum, and I’ll never be able to finish anything. Might catch myself gluing parts in the wrong place again. [D)]

You have some nice kits there! [tup] Any preference as to which one you want to build first?

I love to hear what you think about the Gannet kit, I’ve had my eye on one for a while now[;)]

Blimey…wish it was April[oX)]

Its OK…the cheif has’nt spotted you![:-,][oX)] Just don’t let the M/O catch you gluing your parts together…[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

More rum![#toast][#toast][oX)]

Darren-

Have you ever ordered from Hannants before? I am thinking about getting one of Special Hobby’s 1/48 Super Corsairs (to go along with the one I am going to do here) to build over in the civilian GB. Thought it might be fun to do two Corsairs at once. The only place I can find one is at Hannants, but have never ordered from an overseas (to me) company before. Just wondering if you have ever worked with them.

Frank,

I order from Hannants all the time and can certainly recommend them.[tup] They send everything by Royal Mail parcels and everything is packed securely.

If you give them a try I think you will be pleased. [;)]

Thanks Darren. I may have to give them a try.

I’m still considering starting with a US plane used by FAA, the sky / dark sea gray sceme is going to require me to break out the airbrush and I’m not sure how that will go (I’m not that proficient with it), the US planes offer the all blue option. If I start with one of the 3 I got it will probably be the Swordfish, not only is it cheap it offeres several alternate paint schemes. I really want the Gannett and Wyvern to come out nice so I will probably hold off on them until I am pretty confident I can do them right.

Just looking in the box both the Gannett and Wyvern look pretty nice, crisp detail, clear “glass” parts, everything individually bagged and instructions that actually look like they make sense. I got the 1/72 scale kits but I understand the 1/48 are about the same just a little more detail.

Picked up an Airfix Seahawk and Italeri Merlin HMA1 over the weekend ,guess thats me sorted.

Aaronw,

I like the sound of that Swordfish! I think Mike is going to build one of those too. The Gannet kit sounds good, definately one for my wish list.[;)]
