I have to apply a certain red to a commercial ship I am building. The color only comes in MM gloss
bottles. Its very difficult to brush gloss as many on here know. I want to make the paint flat. How can I do this? They don’t have a flat base asTamiya does for their acrylics.
The color I want to flatten is flourecent red-orange for use on the Revell Hermann Marwede.
I don’t want to airbrush as it is very small areas that need this color

I have heard that adding talcum power may work Also that adding flat laquer may work, however will it affect brush application?
Yes, I’ve added talcum powder (or “baby powder”) to paints to flatten them; as long as you stir the powder in well, you shouldn’t have any problem applying it with a brush. Also, after 35 years of building models, I’ve finally discovered that there’s no such thing as paint that’s too thin; better to add too much thinner to your paint than too little. If the talcum powder makes your paint too thick, just add a healthy dose of thinner. That should also make your paint last longer, too (without drying out).
