Flattened tires for M2

I’m reacting to a review regarding the M2 half track which has a somewhat flattened or soft tires. I agree that this should not be so because tires should not run soft. Even if it is heavily loaded still it should not have a pronounced softness. The M2 will look like an airplane model. The problem is you are not given a choice of soft or normal tires. It would have been an almost perfect M2 if not for those punctured tires!

I couldn’t agree with you more. Oh well, at least the aftermarket guys will have something to do. Oh wait, there’s already been some announced on Missing-Lynx:

Half-track wheels/tires

I’d even say that for airplane models, they’re inaccurate there as well.

One of the things I hated were the grossly flattened tires that one company made. A representative even came to a club meeting and I brought it up to him – that it was gimmicky and didn’t reflect reality. He said that he would pass it along to the master maker.

Probably the most fascinating aspect of this particular case is that it was designed to be an “added” detail under the whole “Smart Kit” philosophy but instead has turned into a flaw/weakness. Given the widespread elation at its release announcement, I’m sure the AM market will have a great time dealing with the demand that will follow for replacement tires both because of the bulge but also because of the desire for different tread pattern types. It will be easy to tell if someone goes with the OOB tires or replacements, unless of course it just gets buried up to the hubs in mud or grass. [;)]

The aftermarket guys have already jumped on it! Non-bulging replacement tires have been announced. There will be the “early” chevron type tire treads available too.

Roy,

I already noted that in my original post.
