I was wondering if the 88’s you see in band of brothers (during the scence where they attack the 88’s) are Flak 36’s or 37’s. I know that the 36 were used as anti tank guns and the 37 was an AA gun, but which ones were used to shell the beaches on D-Day?
Will, If I recall correctly, the four guns that Easy Company attacked at Utah Beach were actually 105mm’s not 88’s. Is that the scene you were talking about?
Yes it is Easy company and yes that was the scene I’m talking about petbat. If they are 105mm’s are there any kits of those, because I want to make a Dio of that scence?
im not totally for sure but i think those guns might have been leFH18’s , but im sure they were not “88’s”. if they are leFH18’s your in luck, AFV just came out with one, its probably a good kit , but runs about $30 or so.
I have BOB and I know that they are (where?) 105’s. After they get back from attacking the possitions, during his debriefing outside, he says “They were actually 105’s, not 88’s…” It was (is?) the second episode too. [:D] By the way, is this for the towed gun group build? I was (still am [;)] ) thinking of doing that for the group build but in 1/72 or 76. Have fun!! [8D]
yeah they attacked a battery of 4 105s in Episode 2, when they landed in Normandy. Actually Winters movement on that day eas textbook and is taught at West Point. The only other scene i can recall is the attack on Foy when Easy Company assaulted and Lt Spears charged into the town through German Lines. There was an 88 in that scene but im not sure what kind.
