About a year ago I finished Italeri’s 1/72 C-130E Hercules , in the two tone green and dark gray color scheme , of the 317th TAW USAF. The model turned out reasonably well ; But unfortunatly there was one major significant error I made when building the kit and it was the fitting of the front windscreen in place . Italeri mold the windscreen as a U shaped single piece . so after installing the windscreen I should have puttied and sanded the small join above the three main small windows in the center . However all my sanding I prefer to do with 800 grade wet and dry using pleanty of water , but at the time of fitting the windscreen in place I was worried about some of the putty and water residue running down the inside of the windscreen and not being able to get into the cockpit area to wipe it clean . So I just left it showing a join , thinking that I might come up with a better idea later to fix the unsightly join . Alas a year later the finished model sits in the cabinet with this glaring mistake front and center . I thought about dry sanding ,but I’m concerned about any putty dust getting inside the cockpit . Anybody have any thoughts and comments on how to overcome this small but important error I’ve made.[V]
perhaps if you could show us a picture of what your talking about?. Im having a hard time thinking about what your trying to explain
You could try gap-filling super glue. It means you’ll have to do some touching up, but it should at least eliminate any dust problems. Mask the rest of the windows, fill the seam, sand before the glue cures completely, and you should have a nice, invisible join
Or alternatively, if the gap is small, white glue should work fairly well.
White glue woudl be my method of choice too, as you can wipe off the residue with a damp cloth, and - more importantly, it won’t fog your canopy like CA (super glu) will do if you’re unlucky.
