First post

I just came from the introduce yourself form. I am hornet junkie so I thought I would post my last 2 and get some feedback. I am getting ready to start a new marine corps D. So if there are any other hornet junkies I would love to here from you, as well as all others. I am looking for ways to get the seem out of the canopies. Also what kind of masking tape you guys use, for painting. Thanks, and I am looking forward to getting advice form you. Ok not sure how to post pictures.

To post pictures you need to click the filmstrip looking thing and put in the link to your picture.

Jason,

Model sanding sticks work great for canopies. Squadron has a number of them that work very well (rougher grit to medium to fine and then a coat of Future)… tends to work every time.

I like Tamiya’s low-tak masking tape.

As far as posting photos, first log onto a site like “photobucket”. You can post there and then simply copy and paste into your forum posts. It is pretty simple.

Good luck and will be looking forward to your pics…

I like to use Tamiya Tape and regular Blue Painters Tape.

Ok thanks. Here are my 2 best hornets so far.[View:/themes/fsm/utility/photobucket.com/F-18Supers:550:0]

let me know what you think.

Welcome to the fold!

For the canopy, I first scrape(lightly) the seam down with a blade, then use very light sandpaper, followed by polishing with toothPASTE (NOT gel). Then I run a buffing wheel (Dremel) to finish it off.

For masking small areas and canopies, I use Tamiya tape. For larger areas, regular old masking tape.

I do like F-18s (who doesn’t, they’re F’n cool as he!!), but I’m more of a WW2 guy. My older bro. is a WSO in the “D”. 2 tours in Iraq, and 2, 7 month trips to Japan. He’s now an instructor.

Here’s a couple “inspiration” pics for you upcoming build. These are from my bro, on his first WESTPAC.

Hey Jarhead, welcome! that photo link does appear to be broken?

[snWcm] jarhead, who doesn’t like a BA Hornet roaring overhead?

Bair with let me try this again.[View:/themes/fsm/utility/photobucket.com/F-18Superrhinos:550:0]
