First Armor Build

I am building my first Armor Kit, Tamiya M4A3 -105. Seems to be an excellent kit with very little flash and great fit.
I am working on the area under the rear deck and it seems in the pictures I see some kind of plate or bracket outside of the air cleaners above the idler wheel adjusters. Is this a stiffener plate or mud guard or what? I don’t have any good pictures of this area other than closeups where they are only hinted at. The orientation observed is fore and aft and appear to separate the track area from the rear under deck area. Any assistance is appreciated.

[#welcome] grounded,
Wow that is a very specific question for a first post. Sorry I can’t help, I wouldn’t even notice something like that. Sounds like we need someone with personal Sherman experience. Check out this post by Unknownpharoh. He’s a copter guy that posted alot of great pictures of Armor stuff where he works. Two different Shermans.

In the article about correcting the M4A3 exhaust deflector, scroll down and you’ll see what the builder did. You get a chance to see a more finely detailed version of what you’re depicting.

Thanks guys.

This is my first armor vehicle and I am very impressed with the assistance you gave me. I am xnavy but I really get a kick out of the armor.

Thanks again,

Bruce

Ex-Navy and into armor here as well. When were you in? 1987-1992 for me.
