My wife got me back into this hobby after about 20 years. Mostly finished with this 1/48 Tiger I Initial Production Afrika Corps. Its all right out of the box with no fancy extras. I need to get some 5 minute epoxy to fix a busted fender and then might make my first attempt at some light weathering.
Looks greats , well made. Ive yet to do a1/48 kit and thats the one i would choose first.i like the early exhaust guards.I detailed a 1/16 hen long rc Tiger number 121 and that like yours is one represented in Tunisia and is supposed to have these guards, i might get round to replacing them one day. Look forward to more pics,Andy.
Nice to see you back in the hobby after so many years. Looks pretty nice. Your lucky to get into the hobby again with so many 1/48 choices available. Also a benefit that the wife encourages you too.
Ya, the wife thought this would give me something to do in the winter. Now after an airbrush, 3 $40 kits and the need for a compressor and lots more, I think she is having her doubts lol. Any suggestions for making this Tiger look “dirtier” I’ve never tried detailing, weathering or washes. Point me to some good tutorials? thx
“the doog” has a tutorial for weathering a German Hetzer. He has posts all over the forum, ask him to send you the link. I also have one called “Winter Camo’” in armor. It’s a comprehensive tutorial, almost, I have a few steps to finish. It starts with a finished build…just where you are now. Hope they help. Your build is very well done by the way…add some weathering and it’ll be a real showpiece.
Is this the Tamiya kit? You did it in my Favorite German color, Afrika Corp Yellow[swg]
at any rate nice START after a long layoff, now after weathering this one go out and build some more[:)]
If you are looking for ideas, there is a current group build for winter finish and Feb will start a Tank killer group build. There is an ongoing North Africa build that includes British/commonwealth, US, German, Italian ,Poland or France
