fire extinguisher colour on 251?

Can anyone tell me what the colour of the fire extinguisher is on the 251/16 please? The instructions dont really help but Im presuming from that that they are the dark yellow colour?

A bit 'o artistic license here: go with dark yellow, panzer grey or red…I posted actual examples of these in wartime colors awhile back…

Thanks Eric

I wouldn’t use red on a 251. Red was generally confined to internal FEs while externals were hull color (dunkelgelb or panzer gray). Since the 251 was an open topped vehicle, even the one that mounted on the “inside” of the compartment would most likely have been an external type and painted accordingly.

Here ya go, Anthony…

Cool thanks. Is that an original?

Yes it is, Anthony–but it’s not mine. (I wish!) [;)]

If you want to be a stickler for 100% accuracy, then yes, dark yellow is the way to probably go; but if you want a little bit of artisitc license (and we all have that license) to add a bit of color to your track then I wouldn’t rule out the red or panzer grey either…in the past few years it has been sort of a fad to color extinguishers red to add some interest to an otherwise monotone scheme, and it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities that a red one could wind up being used out of the norm…

Very true MR, I missed the connection to the “artistic license” in your original post. [;)]

You could even go a bit further and use field grey (a greenish gray) as some of the survivors appear to be that color as well vs. straight panzer gray.
