Fire Bomber DC-6 completed. Minicraft 1/144

Just finished this little jewel and wanted to show it off. It’s Minicraft’s 1/144 DC-6 Fire Bomber, with Conair markings. It’s a nice little kit. Plastic is a bit soft and panel lines are minimal, but, it goes together real good. One warning, if you build this one to be on her landing gear, put in LOTS of weight to keep it from being a tail dragger.

Hope you like it!

Len

Very nicely done! Great finish my friend!

Looks great Len [tup]. Beaytiful paint work.

Beautiful work on a very different model.

Great looking -6! I love seeing fire bombers! Could you have guessed? [swg]

I’ll be doing a couple of those only in 1/72. One will be in Butler Aviation colors and the other I hope to convert to a DC-4/C-54 in TBM, Inc. colors.

Just awesome! I’m a big Douglas fan, thats a beaut.

Holy cow! I know TWO fire bomber fans! [;)]

Seriously- that looks great. I can’t even see stuff that small- you did a great job. And bonus Ninja points for such an unusual and interesting subject!

Yea, I kinda guessed it! [:D]

I have both the 1/72 CL215 & 415, along with the Heller DC-4 in the pile. And I think I have one of the Russsian 1/288 Antonovs in the stash somewhere to get done.

Plus, now that Cobra Company has the resin parts to make a Firehawk in 1/72, I’ll be tracking down one of the those.

What I would really like is to find is an 1/72 Air Tractor kit to make one of those fire bombers.

Thank you all for the kind words!

The CL-215 and 415 are two I need to add to my stash. As for the Air Tractor? My personal preference would be 1/48 along with some other ag types I have seen fly on fires. Pawnee, Ag Wagon & Truck and Ag Cat.

Chris’ tank is actually for the Huey but, it may be able to be adapted to the Hawk.

Excellent work, thanks for sharing! [tup]

Beautiful work, Len, thanks for sharing it!!

Take care,
Frank

Duh!! Yea, I knew that, I guess I had a brain fart when I typed Firehawk. You responded to my questions over on the rotor-head forum on what Huey kits were decent and which ones to avoid in the thread where Chris announced the tank.

Guess I had to much glue fumes today!

Very nice build, Len! Outstanding job on the painting.
