Dear Fellow modelers,
This is my first discussion here and one of my novel projects - rebuilding of a known Tamiya kit 35310. This one will be completely remastered using 3d, PE and resin details.
Hello @endreuskas, welcome to the forum!
I’ll be watching this with interest, as I have this same kit, and am slowly accumulating aftermarket detail parts. Will you be building it as a Finnish assault gun?
Thank you for such a warm welcome!
And, Yes! This will be Finnish StuG III
Interesting project,I remember when they came out with that kit
Yes! But historically there are at least 2 types of Finnish StuGs! Those with logs and concreate are the late Finnish rebuild! However, the first StuGs that Finland got from Germany were remastered in a different way (no concreate, no logs, etc.)
The kit itself is quite primitive! The number of improvements is just growing and growing!
Welcome to the forum! I will follow along with interest. Love your rubber band usage!
You can count me in on this one as well. Welcome aboard by the way.
Thank You my friend!
Following along this one as well
Look forward to seeing the Finnished Product (I’ll see myself out…)
Dear Fellows!
Here is some progress in my “StuG III” project: the front armor plate is now glued as well as the upper hull, the transparent vision port is mounted into the driver vision hole.
I love this “up-detail” you’re doing of the Tamiya kit. I’m curious: is that grey armor plate from a different kit, or a 3D printed part?
And how which of these “upgrades” that you’re making are general StuG improvements, and which are Finnish-StuG specific?
Really nice detail work!
Not 3d printed nor from different kit! This one is from resin! And I dont remember the manufacturer! As for the “improvements”! These are not specific for Finnish StuG! These are specific for the early StuG III G send to Finnish army somewhere in 42-43! The specific improvements will be at the end of this build and they are completely different as those in the late (as far as I know in 1944) StuGs in Finnish army (logs, concrete, spare tracks etc.)! I can list some of them: DT29 mashine gun instead of MG34 or 42, the shield must be that for MG42 (with wide hole), spare wheels at the left and right side, large storage box at the back, quite spesific tracks (with no hole on the tooth etc.), very specific camo (three tone), and a number of other peculiarities!
Excellent info!
Thanks!
It is even better to start with this 24 Ryn.tyk.psv./Stu.40 (StuG III Ausf.G in Finnish Service) - Tank Encyclopedia
