I have a couple questions for other diorama builders out there.

  1. How many dios do you finish every year?[^o)]

  2. how many dios do you finish before you have a great idea and start working on that idea?[:O]

I probably finish 2 dios a year if I’m lucky.

And I have so many half completed dios or dio ideas that i hope will be finished. Every time I am almost done with a dio I have a great idea and then start working on that one and put the other aside.

Well i am just about to finish my first Dio in about 8 years. I used to have a rule that i never started on a new project until the last one was done. That sort of went out the window when i got into GB’s and i have been building the kits but not doing the dio’s so i was within the time frame. So now i have 8 kits that i want to do Dio’s for.

Its hard to say how many i do in a year. I do both 1/72nd aircraft and 1/35th armour dio’s so it all depends how complex each one is. I will get back to you in 12 months.

These took me about 4 months each

~~My current W.I.P. I had thought would also be about a 4 month project but will wrap-up at about 6

~~I have 6-8 solid plans for other Dio’s and most if not all of the kits in the stash—plus plenty of other ideas I’d call partial plans at this point. I think about them for a long time ahead of starting and complete each one before deciding which is next.[:#]

Depends, in 2008 I finished five; in 2009 I finshed zero…(although I did start three and finshed a couple of vignettes)…

I have more ideas for dios than I’ll ever build…but there is a large delta between an original idea and what you actually construct…the medium often has its limitations that have to be factored in…

Nice dios! I have seen a couple of them in the magazine.

I had that same rule. Keyword: HAD

I average around three a year, but the most recent project was started in October 2008. I never physically start a new project until the current one is completed. I have a holding pattern of idea and often start working out things in my head or on paper so that I get a clean run at the new project.
