Finished Trumpeter Chally 2 Op Telic

Just finished the above mentioned model. It was an intensive model in that a lot of work has gotten in to it. But after finishing, it does look impressive with all the add on armor, skirts, and the Eduard photo etch. As a matter of fact , with the skirts, the finished model evokes the image of armored horses that knights used to ride around during the Middle Ages.

Anyway I have decided that 1/35 isn’t my scale(shelf space) and as a result will instead stick to 1/72. Now I have to figure out what to do with the 1/35 Heller VAB.

PICS?

they are in the other computer. I’ll upload them during the weekend. I see you are in South Korea, hattals. As for me, I am in Seoul.

Looking forward to the pics!!

Pictures would be great!

Min Soo, I’m sure there are a lot of guys here that would love you to give them the VAB[:P]

When you say intensive, was it a difficult build. I wasn’t impressed with the fit of their Abrams.

First there were in my opinion a lot more parts than was necessary which increased the amount of time required for assembly. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Tamiya one’s part count is lower than the Trumpeter one.

Second, the fit of some of the parts were fiddly, especially the turret side tool boxes. Also the upper hull was a bit warped and thus didn’t sit properly on the lower hull. Had to use a lot of glue and pressure to have the desired effect.

Third, I used the Eduard photo etch set to replace parts which I thought were a bit clunky. This also took some time but this was my entirely my choice.

Other than that, it is a nice kit. Although I believe with the Tamiya Challenger 2, one most probably won’t need photoetch, and the build will be easier thus making it a more fun project compared to the Trumpeter one.

One more tidbit regarding the Tamiya Chal 2. It has clear parts for the lights, lenses, etc.

Thanks, I think you recommended Tamiya to me. [;)]
