***FINISHED*** Tamiya's Sdkfz 251/1 Hanomag

Just finished free hand painting the camo. Hopefully the figures will follow. With good weather, I should get finished on my 7-day break.

That is some nice free-hand camo.[tup] Now get this half-track dirtied up![:D]

A very cool camo scheme! Nice painting!

Was this a relatively smooth build? I just finished a DML halftrack that was a bear of a build!

Nice camo. I’m a little scared to do the squiggly pattern on my next project and hope it comes out as well as yours did.

Thanks.

[:-^]

nice paint job.

Just Finished!!! Didn’t like the figures, oh, I painted them for the practice. They just didn’t want to cooperate when came time to step up. So I’ve got some Dragon figures that are going to take their place.

I know I got the instrument panel wrong. [banghead]

Very nice, Commando.

Th eonly thing I could add as critique is that it looks like you sprayed your Dark Yellow straight out of the bottle? You should lighten your DY coat by at least 50% to get it into the right hue for weathering.

All in all though, a nice job!

Very fine build and paint job, Commando, espeecially if the camo was brush-painted. Few points. First, don’t forget to paint the ends of the width feelers white. Second, try supergluing the top run of the tracks to the tops of the road wheels, Work one wheel at a time, starting from the centre, and holding the track to th wheel with a pair of cross-action tweezers, so that in the end it ends up looking like this:

(The running gear, obviously, not the bodywork!) [:o)]

Third, the exhaust pipe/ muffler should be rusty red-brown, not body colour:

Cheers,

Chris.

I agree, DML’s three in one was quite the pain but there is no other brand i would rather build than a Dragon. The squiggly camo scheme is pretty tricky also, i don’t how many times a had to paint the whole thng over. it came out pretty damn nice in the end. i’ll post some photos

it’s a great pattern, i can not do it with a brush though. God Bless the Airbrush.

you’re off to a great start

Nice camo and the overall look is good. With what doog has said, it is a bit shiny but still look nice.

good job[tup]

Thanks all.[bow] I tried super gluing the tracks, but that didn’t work out, as you can tell[banghead]. Being sorry rubber band tracks that didn’t hold paint!!! And I got aggravated.[censored] I’ll give it another coat of dull coat. I didn’t look that shiney in person??? I noticed while working on this one, it didn’t have an exhaust or muffler. The Tamiya Sdkfz 250/9 doesn’t have any exhaust either. I usually do the Life Paint rust & dust thing with exhaust stuff. I pulled the ol’AFV Sdkfz 251/1 Ausf C back out. So it’s going under the knife. Camo is free hand, I can’t copy anything, tried and failed. So I free lance. I read from the great “Panzer” Mrosko, that there were never two the same. So I figured as long as I keep the style or pattern type, I can’t go wrong.

Nice freehand camo job there.

The muffler is the upright cylindrical object poking through the fender between the left front wheel and the drive sprocket for the track.

[#oops]Take a close look at the tracks. Happens to everybody.

Nice job. I’ve been putting off building my halftracks but one of these days.[:D]

Tony the Mutt

Just noticed… I hate those tracks.[banghead] Thanks

And I’m gonna fix that muffler issue also.[oops]

Commando, nice work on the camo pattern! Another small detail that you may wish to fix is the incorrect double-drum magazine on the MG34. These were normally belt-fed weapons so only one drum would be fitted on the left hand side…the belt inside the drum would then feed out the right hand side. [;)]

Nice job, I just picked up one of these at Hobby Lobby for 14 bucks.

Very nice!
