This is my finished 1/48 Italeri FR IX Spitfire, this particular aircraft flew with 16 Sqn RAF during September 1944. I’ve tried to photograph the model as if its dawn on an airfield somewhere in France (OK, I failed miserably![:D]) to show the effect of the pink paint job against a early morning sky.
Thank you all for allowing me to share this build with you, any comments good or bad will be most welcome.
Looks really nice Darren. I really like the first and last pictures. Also, I want to mention that I am impressed with the wing roundels. I’m not sure if it is the flat you used or what, but they definately don’t look like decals to me. Nice work.

Beautiful Spitfire. I like the weathering and the dropped elavators and open side door. Looks like it’s mission ready. Question. What is the round window behind the cockpit? Did someone sit back there?
Thank you all very much for your kind words, its great to be able to read what you think of my build. Neil, the window behind the cockpit was for a camera, some Spitfires were equiped with camera’s in the port side fuselage and the belly of the aircraft, depending on which mark/version it was. Most recon. Spits were unarmed and known as PR Marks, for Photo Reconnaissance or like my model they were armed and known as Fighter Reconniassance, FR Marks. Hope my yabbering helps, Darren.
