Finished Skyraider ( Sandy )

Got finished with this Tamiya Skyraider… ootb… this weekend.

Good looking Sandy Babva.

Looks nice ! I’m a sucker for any bird in camo. Did you use soft masks or freehand it? Good job !

Very nice!
Great camo.

Babva,

Good looking “Sandy”! Looks like you used the “Navy” kit for your AF version.

Babva,

I see you are in Seattle. The Company Commander of my Unit in Vietnam lives in Federal Way. He made it to one of the Reunions a couple years ago and we have been E-mailing ever since.

Did not realize that Tamiya had the AH-1J verison. ( First plane model that I have built ).

Yep Federal Way is about a 20 minute drive South of Seattle.

Just did a freehand job on it… still lots of room for improvment.

Got back into the hobby 2 months ago. First model was a tank and now this Skyraider. I’m 49 years young and have not built a model since I was a teenager.

This is the second airbrushed model I have built. Thanks for looking. [:)]

Jim

It looks great Jim.[tup]

The only thing to me that gave it away as a Navy Skyraider was the tailhook sticking out of the back. I am building the Monogram version and it too has a tailhook, but I took it off and filled in the opening for it.

Mike

Nice freehand ! Doesn’t seem like you’ve been away so long. Welcome back to this wonderful hobby ! What will you be working on next?

Looks great, well done.

Yes, it does look very well from here nice hand!

NIce Sandy. Were those kit decals or aftermarket? Keep going. Welcome back to the hobby.

That is a fantastic job!!! Keep posting, we all want MORE!!!

Great looking Sandy, Jim

Nice camo too!

Regards, Dan

Jim,

Welcome back! I never left but never built many either! It was the decals that gave it away. They are Navy Tail Codes! Still a great job! Build for yourself and “D@#n” the critics! I still don’t know what I want to do when I “grow up”!

Jim, great looking Sandy. It’s one of my favorite 'Nam era birds.

excellent work!

nice, very nice.

Great job for your first AC model in 30 years. Keep up the good work.

Rick

That’s only your second airbrushed model? WHOA!

Awesome work there, Babva.

I have a friend who flew Spads for the AF in Viet Nam. A great plane, and you have done a fine job of representing it there.

Looking forward to more of your work. Keep us posted.
