Finished SdKfz 250/11

Just finished this Dragon kit and thought I’d post some pictures to get your opinions. This was my first attempt at airbrushing, indie links and pastel weathering. Any and all criticism is welcome.

I now the finish is a little glossy. I used MM acryl flat and wasn’t that happy with it. I’m going to try something else next time.
Sorry about the size. You can click on my web link below to see larger images.

Thanks, Pete

Not bad for all that new techniques being tried!

what scale is that M3?

looks great. Do you have a link to bigger pics? Also, the first thumbnail has gone MIA

Thanks guys, here’s the link:

Jason, have no idea what happened to that picture. Must have screwed up the URL.

beav, all the other builds are braille scale. The Stuart is the Hasegawa kit. I built all 1/72 when I started up a couple of months ago, figuring that until I got an AB, brush painting would show up less on the smaller kits.

Looks great. I followed the advice someone gave me here a while ago. I use tamiya flat mixed 1:4 with future. Instant flat finish that sprays really well.

I saw that on one of the threads here as well, but as I already had the MM, I figured I’d give it a try. Someone also made a strong case for Floquil flat (at least I think that’s the one). I think for my next project the MM will stay on the shelf.

Wow, I just looked again. I didn’t realize the pictures were so fuzzy. Sorry, guess I need some work on my picture taking skills too!!

I have run through a whole range of flats trying to get one that works well, but no luck. The odd thing is if you spray MM flat over flat, it looks fine. I use it still, but I paint on future gloss only where I want the decals so it is the only glossy part. Then I spray the whole thing with the Acryl flat and it works. I also go light on the future now

1st time with an airbrush?? Nice work. I’ m surprized the MM Acryl came out so shiney. Maybe you can spray it with dulcote. I think you’ll see a big difference with tamiya flats. Floquil is enamel. It’s not as flat as Tamiya.

My other option is to not bother with the Future at all and switch to an acrylic or watercolor wash instead of the oils. I seem to have pretty good results with Micro-set, so I’m not too concerned about that. Not only that, but I can cut out a step. JUst a thought.

Nice job on the mean looking half-track.
