My oldest son, John (who turned 6 in November) got really interested in the Bismarck after seeing the History Channel Dogfights episode on the hunt for the Bismarck. So this summer I picked up the Revell 1:1200 Bismarck for us to work on together.
We worked on it in mostly in October. John did almost all the work on the assembly. I just cut the parts off the sprue and dabbed glue in the right places. This kit goes together beautifully!
We didn’t paint it, but I did put on the decals.
The base is made from painted aluminum foil under several heavy coats of Mod Podge. Again, John did the bulk of the work on the base, but I did the spray painting and some of the work with the Mod Podge – just because it looked like fun.
He is well on his way, and that is one good-looking build in that scale [Y] 1/700 is as low as I can go, and that for not much longer … all it needs is some 1/1200 people to finish it off! (No, seriously, I remember seeing some 1/1200 PE people recently, and thinking, Yeah, like THAT’s ever gonna’ happen on one of my builds …)
