Thanks for all the support and ideas along the way, even if you didn’t know you were contributing. I’ve finished my “summer” project a little late, but I’m quite happy with it. I opted to patch in the battle damaged armor plating and used the included weathered decals. Solid kit, really enjoied it. To cap it off, I tried my first oil wash, which I think lent a bit of depth to the overall finish.

Back in about 1973, this was the kit that started my addiction to armor modeling. Mine went unpainted for a few years, before I incorrectly painted it Panzergrey. LOL I had almost all of the Monogram German tanks as well as a few of the US halftracks.
Love your oil wash, it turned out beautifully. Not sure what happened on your schurzen, but it definately riding high for some reason. It should begin from the roadwheels and work up.

Really quite nice, but for the side skirts level and the loose track. These are things you’ll learn to fix in time. The paint is really nicely done and the weathering looks spot-on. [:)]

Thanks for the feedback guys! I’ll have to look at my instructions but I did mount those side skirts high. There are indents that I thought were for the lower mount, but they must have to be shifted down. (Only my 2nd tank and first panzer! Rookie mistake) Thanks for the kind words on the paint and weathering, I’m getting to the point where I’m building the model just so I can paint and weather.
Any advice on tank tracks (my nemesis) would be great. Thanks again!
Don’t beat yourself up on the build. The tracks are vinyl.

Quite timely , you posting this. This is one of the Monogram kits that I never built back in the '70s, so I bought one last week as an in-between project. I am going to build it in between steps on the Bf-109 i am building. I am going to use it as a test bed for trying some new (to me, anyway,) weathring techniques.
If you enjoyed building this one, might I suggest getting the Monogram Screaming Mimi Sherman. A pretty easy build and from the same line up as the Panzer IV.

The hull side brackets should meet up with the rail across the back of the schurzen panels. The indents look like they meet up with projections from the edge of the fenders.
Really great paint and weathering, Josh!!! Eye-catching and realistic. Did you free-hand or mask off the pattern?
I’m finishing up the 1/32 Monogram M4A1 with T34 Calliope launcher — something I built as a kid — and having a blast doing so…

I wish that I had seen this post before the photos were deleted. I remember those Monogram tanks well from my childhood. Yesterday, my grandsons gave me a gift for Grandparents’ Day. It was a Monogram US M-48 in 1/35 scale (at least that’s what it says on the box!). Anyway, It brought back many memories of childhood. Your Pz.Kfw IV did the same.

Good first effort, for sure.
My first job was in a little toy/hobby shop, and those things were on our shelves. I lost track of how many times I built the all Monogram armor kits, but if I dig around enough in the spares boxes, I can probably still turn up some M3 Lee/Grant road wheels or something.
