Well the elves took their sweet time but they finally finished…I knew I should never have renegotiated their contracts to work by the hour…oh well…[:P]
This is the 1/48 Tamiya with the Mototug (I just noticed that the tug is not in the pictures!!..those little bastards must be out joy-riding!!!)
I added Eduard color PE in the pit. The wing fold detail I dressed up a bit with some wiring.

Try extra caffeine in their coffee, abolish the Elf union and rule like a mad dictator! Sure Stalin wasn’t the nicest guy but he did get results. Next Elf who isn’t sweating by 7:30 am beat the smile off his face with a candy cane! Show them who is the evil over lord of the hobby bench.
All labor issues aside I really like that build.
One rocket seems to be misaligned on the upright wing, easy correction. I like the deep colors as not all aircraft sat out on the deck in the sun all day. It makes me think of a ‘spare’ plane that was tucked away below the deck away from the salt & sun.
Nice treatment of the finish. Great look for the nicked and and scraped metal. What is the color of the upper surfaces? It appears that the rockets are attached in pairs. I’ve not noticed that before…interesting. Great looking bird. Rick.

Looks real nice. I motivate my elves by viewing the progress with a magnifying glass. They never know if you are just looking or trying to burn 'em like ants.

The photos are a bit dark to judge the weathering much. The demarcation between the major colors appears to be too sharp. The chipping looks good but it would take better lighting to really tell for sure.
However, long before judging the weathering you notice that the rockets and drop tanks are badly misaligned relative to each other as well as to the line of flight.
This would thwart any attempt at placing in a typical IPMS contest.
These comments are only meant to help those readers who are trying to become competitive modelers. If you build for fun then continue to do so.

I had problems aligning the tanks…for some reason they would sit right…same with the rockets…I opened the holes where they were marked and when I went to place the mounts on one wing they were misaligned the mounts would sit out into the flap area…so I did what I could…and since this is NOT for a contest…well…good enough for government work…in fact I have thought about removing the tanks and using the “covers” supplied in the kit.

Beautiful work! I can’t quite tell in the lighting, but what did you use for the primary colors? And which kit is this? I am currently trying to patch together a passable 1/32 Corsair from 3 parts kits with major issues. But all three sets have the hinges for the wings fragged so I will be doing them wings unfolded.
Looks good from this end of the eastern seaboard Carlos. You’re tempting me to try a wing-fold in the future!! Good thing you used wheel chocks or the elves may have flown off with this as well.

Andrew…I guess its a 1D since thats what the kit represents allthought the markings from Eagle Strike say the machine was a 1A flown out of Bougainville, Lt.Jg Merl Davenport…I guess I really didnt want an all blue bird so I took some artistic liberty…granted it wont place in any contests but I wont go into that…
