I know prevention is the best method. However, no matter how careful I am with my glue(usually gluing fuselage halves together) sometimes I will end up with a glue fingerprint on my model. I try to wipe it away as soon as i can, but sometimes I overlook one. Basically my question is: How do I remove dried fingerprints from a plastic model? It is usually on the bare plastic but sometimes on the paint itself. Sand it and start over? IDK?!
Yeah, you will probably have to sand it out. Prevention is the key, and in my 37 years of modeling, I still have the occasional glueprint show up.
Try latex free disposable gloves.

Same here, happens to me now and again. Using plastic weld, I sometimes find it has eastern into the plastic which means to has to be filled then sanded.
You are not alone! It happen to me the other day…again! [:$] Best bet, let it dry, then like everyone else has mentioned, just lightly sand it until you are happy with it. Or, if it doesn’t go away completely, do what I do…WEATHER THE CRAP OUT OF THE BUILD! [whstl] Just sayin’!

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately that is what I was thinking 
and Blacksheep, I have tried gloves…it solves the fingerprint problems but the gloves still leave a glue smear! Thank you all for being so helpful! Like I said I assumed prevention is the only true fix i could think of. I have a long way to go, but I am making good progress on my BATCH builds lol im addicted to building several kits at the same time

I’ve had builds where I had to sand/repaint 5-6 times because of fingerprints or fingernail scratches.

When I see a fingerprint or any imperfection on a model that I’m building, I simply weather that spot by applying pigments. In other words, I turn imperfections into features.
If its in a tight spot I’ll use my Xacto knife by scraping it away (lightly) until its gone then lightly sand it. I find doing armor theres more little tight spots. Sometimes I get a little “bleed through” like when I glue on a hatch from inside the turret and some amazingly seeps out. Open areas I’ll sand em. Most times less is more, I try to use as little glue as possible, hope you get some answers here. Terry
i’ve tried that. not only does it not stop glue transfer (only stops it getting on your finger, not the model) but it’s hard to do fine work with them on.
If you do get a fingerprint or some other glue smudge on the model don’t try to wipe it away. Just let it dry then sand it lightly afterwards. Trying to wipe it off or down just makes it worse.
